Small jobs welcome

"Quick response with quote, which was really reasonable. They were able to complete the project right away. I had them remove glued down wood flooring, which is really difficult. A couple hours after they arrived the area was cleaned and ready for install. Will hire again for other projects."

"We hired Rainforest LA to install our front yard landscaping. The design had been done by another company and Yosi worked with the designer and made our yard beautiful. Yosi was professional and responded timely to my texts. The prices were very reasonable and the quality of work was exceptional. We will use this company again."

"I have used the Drain Co. several times. The work is always solid and reliable. They appear to have raised their prices though as last year it was $172 and this year $262 for 3 drains. The guy was here for roughly 2 hours. Last year it was 1.5 hours. I would have preferred knowing ahead of time the cost rather than being surprised by the bill, especially given that we are repeat customers and had an expectation that the cost would be equivalent to last year since our yard has not changed."

"Absolutely In love with the work that was done at my place! The result was even better then i had imagined, I had my bathroom and kitchen done. I have always been terrified of contractors as in the past I was ripped off, but this is not the case they communicated with me every step of the way and made this an enjoyable experience for me. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to remodel or have work done in there home! Thank you again to US Home Developers Inc you guys did an incredible job"

"We interviewed three contractors from different sources, Aaron was not the least expensive but his quote was more inline with expected budget. We hired Aaron and started construction on our new home, demo was quick we were ready for new foundations within a week, then we went into re - framing of existing structure, framing of new structures, cabanas decks, patios, etc. 6 months later we moved into our new home. At every step Aaron and his team were available to help manage expectations and avoid mishaps. Thanks Aaron.

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Depending on the severity of the freeze and the method used, thawing frozen underground pipes can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Applying heat directly to the pipe using heat tape, infrared lamps, or hot water jetting can speed up the process. However, patience and careful monitoring are key to avoiding pipe damage.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

Because decomposed granite is a durable material, a crushed rock or gravel base is optional as long as the DG is properly installed and compacted. However, installing a base is a good idea because it will ensure proper drainage and stability and act as a weed suppressant (although you may still occasionally have to pull weeds). Installing an adequate base can also increase the durability of driveways and walkways. If you forego the paver base or gravel underneath, line the area with landscaping fabric to avoid weeds.

The best method for digging a trench depends on the scope of the project. For a short, shallow trench (less than 2 feet deep) in light, soft soil, digging by hand may be sufficient. However, digging by hand is labor-intensive, so consider the effort required. A machine trencher is the better option for longer trenches (over 100 feet), deeper ones, or when dealing with difficult soil conditions, such as rocky or hard ground, or obstructions like tree roots. A machine can save significant time and energy in these situations.
