"This company is very professional and does quality work. Chris came out right away to give us an estimate and did the job the next day. He and his crew did a great job trimming our huge trees - giving them life again! They also did a wonderful job removing and cleaning up all the areas they worked in. He has his own boom/bucket truck and chipper; thus, he has all the equipment necessary to do large and small jobs. We also liked how his crew all wore the same bright shirts so we knew they are part of his company and easy to see from the road and our yard. Chris is also fair in his pricing and does not force any services or work on you. Plus, he is very nice, has good manners and is clean. All that may sound odd, but it's all very important to us as we live in an area that does not have the best vendors/laborers/workers. This company actually showed up on time and did everything promised! We have almost six acres and it looks beautiful and manicured now. We were concerned our animals would be injured by falling and broken branches because the trees were dying and we have such horrible winds; but, now the horses and other animals can play under the trees and we don't have to worry because he has all the trees well trimmed and shaped to perfection. We recommend this company and we will be using them again!"

"Work was done for our HOA. The original estimate was for pruning, fertilizing, and spraying to inhibit olive growth. Since we know little about how to maintain those trees, we were prepared to pay the original quote that included the spraying. We were impressed that he was honest and let us know that spraying should not be done at this time of year and that we would only need to pay half of what we were quoted. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and cleaned up completely when they were done. We will definitely use them again to spray (at the right time of year!) and to maintain those trees."

"Best price I could find. They cut down my tree and stub ground it deep for me because I was having a concrete slap layed over it. They did such a great job I hired them to do the same for a tree at my girlfriends house. They did a amazing job for her as well. Both jobs very professional, quick, and the clean up was like there was never a tree there."

"We used Torres Tree Services to cut back and shape several trees around our house. The trees were overgrown and needed some serious work. This company was extremely professional from the beginning. Their prices were better than several other quotes I got. They seemed very honest and made recommendations and suggestions, but were not pushy at all.

"The crew came out on time, friendly and professional. They checked where we thought there was a bee hive on the outside of the house, but found no hive. They went into the attic and checked the roof from the inside as well. Explaining their work as they went. I really liked the fact that they relocate the bees instead of kill them. ultimately they said the bees we saw were probably scouts looking to start a new hive, but we were in the clear. The company refused to bill me for the service call. Would definitely hire them again!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

A serrated knife will work for cutting off small palm tree fronds, about 1 inch in diameter. For larger fronds, you will need pruning shears. You may also use a pruning saw, and if your palm tree is especially tall, an extended pole saw can help you reach the brown fronds around the trunk.

Many species, especially when well-established, are not fans of transplantation. You’ll need to decide if you want to risk splashing the cash, understanding that transplantation isn’t always successful. Again, this is where hiring a pro is helpful, as they can give you all the essential info you need to ensure your tree stands a fighting chance.

While trees can grow in the curb strip between the sidewalk and the street, this placement often poses the problem of interfering with overhead power lines. It’s best to consult your local utility provider and tree planting service before transplanting a tree that might grow into power lines. Also, you should never work within 20 feet of a live power line to avoid the risk of electric shock. Tree branches should never touch nearby power lines, so it’s essential to ensure your tree isn’t in danger of growing too close to them.

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.
