"After years of toughing out the brutal heat, we finally decided to install AC after having a newborn this year. Tarpy Plumbing Heating and Air was outstanding! To describe our experience- We placed a service request out on a third party site for HVAC companies. Within 5-10 minutes Tarpy called to set up an inspection and free quote. They were the first to respond and the customer service representative was very friendly. They were able to come out as fast as the next day. The contracting manager was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and never once gave us that "sales pressure" feeling. The quote was extremely affordable and far less than any quote we had received in the past. The best part is they were able to come for the install the very next morning! The technicians showed us the same friendly customer service and they made us feel extremely comfortable. They were respectful of our home and proved to be very experienced professionals. Within a little over a half a work day, the AC was up and running. It cooled the house down immediately and the system is super quiet. If you are looking through these reviews to find the best, Tarpy is defiantly the one. We had a great system in place within two days of making first contact with them and their customer service is outstanding. Also, they have an after-hours customer service line that is available 24/7. I'v never seen that before."

"Slava emailed me and called me seconds after submitting the request. He ascertained all the appropriate information and made a house call that afternoon! He diagnosed the problem, ordered parts and had my appliance repaired the next day. My wife and I were thrilled with the service we received! Thanks Slava!"

"We are in the beginning stages of getting ideas for this work and the salesman ignored that understanding and said we needed to sign them up to get the work done in the next 2 to 3 months. They provided some 3D images about 10 days later that provided little value to our decision making process.

Update 1.13.12
I received a call from Tal, their Sales & Marketing Manager, and she apologized for the experience we had and informed me she would refund the $49.  She also stated the salesman was no longer an employee of their company.  Based on my discussion with TAL, I have changed my overall grade of them from a C to a B."

"He did not seem prepared for the job. I had 3 ceiling fans to install and in my bedroom he dropped his drill and chipped hard wood floor which I did not notice until he was gone. Then he had to go to a home appliance store and made me pay him cash when I only had a 20$ he said that was fine, but I thought payment for extras went through the app. He kept asking for water bottles but I do not keep that stuff I use reusable water bottles. It was just overall a weird encounter."

"I pay $75 annually for a certain amount of appliances to be covered. What we didn't know is that you still have to pay a service call fee and if the technician deems the appliance still functional they will not fix it and if the technician says there is nothing wrong with the appliance, they will not fix it. In other words, the appliance has to be completely broken in order for them to fix it."

"I was very happy with the quality of the work, but the markup for additional items purchased felt too high to me. He charged double the purchase price (he did tell me this up front), where I thought it would have been more fair to charge me an hourly fee for the time spent shopping plus cost. There were no surprises on the cost, and I did agree up front to pay it, it just felt overly marked up, but I needed to get the job done quickly."

Appliance Sales questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can recycle a small appliance. In some cases, a small appliance is one of the easiest to recycle because it’s  easy to transport and is in high demand for use as scrap metal. The most common recyclable items include toasters, slow cookers, lamps and lighting, microwaves, and food processors. Charitable organizations, scrap yards and utility companies are good places to recycle your small appliance.

No specific appliance brand lasts longer than others, as the lifespan of appliances varies depending on the type of appliance, product line, and more, in addition to the brand name. However, brands like GE®, LG®, Maytag®, Bosch®, Whirlpool®, and Kitchenaid® are known to manufacture high-quality appliances that tend to have longer lifespans. Many of the appliances from these companies can also more easily be repaired, which helps extend useful life before replacement is necessary.

Most appliance retailers have dedicated installation teams that can tackle the delivery and installation process simultaneously. Unfortunately, just because a retailer sells a specific appliance brand doesn’t mean that its installation technicians are certified by that manufacturer to complete the installation. You could end up with a voided warranty if the installer isn't certified, costing more money down the road. It’s best to find an installer that is certified by your appliance manufacturer, even if it means paying more or dealing with potential scheduling conflicts.

Built-in ovens are installed directly into a wall to sit flush with a kitchen's cabinets, counters, or walls. These ovens offer a streamlined appearance that can blend into the rest of your kitchen aesthetic. And if you want it to blend in even more, you can opt to put a cabinet door over the unit to match the rest of your cabinets.

Another benefit of built-in ovens is that they help preserve your floor space. If you opt for a standalone oven, you'll need to find a place for it in your kitchen. However, since built-in ovens are flush with your walls or cabinets, they won't encroach on your square footage.

Smart home upgrades can be worth the money. Several upgrades, including smart thermostats and ceiling fans, can help reduce your energy bills. Others make life more convenient, freeing up your time to do what you love (or get more work done). And some smart home upgrades, such as entertainment systems, simply make life more enjoyable. All are worthy causes.
