"We had the best experience with this contractor for major exterior work on our home. The owner Sobi first came out to look over the multi faceted project. Our home is 50+ years old and a unique custom build. Many years of deferred maintenance led to extensive dry rot and a need to waterproof a very large roof deck. No contractor really wants to do this kind of work but not Sobi. He assured us that he has seen far worse and has solutions and ideas for our specific issues. This involved more of an investigative approach as he dove into a complicated drain pipe system that was built inside the walls. He found the issue and went to work replacing interior drain pipe connections, etc. He then addressed the extensive exterior dry rot. Some beams needed to be replaced, others could be salvaged. The other big issue, a huge roof deck that was leaking, Sobi had a solution that worked great for us, saving us money. He is very personable, professional, problem solver, just the best!"

"I had an outdoor playground set. Adrian was professional and hard-working. Great communication and he brought all the required tools and equipment. He showed up first thing in the morning on a short notice and it was all done before the end of the day. The assembly looks great and I know the kids will love it!"

"Enrique responded promptly to our request for an estimate. After ordering and receiving the materials, he and Hubert began work immediately, removed the existing deck, installed concrete supports, built the framing and installed the deck. The project was completed in just over two days. Enrique is experienced in working with Trex decking, our choice of material, and the finished deck is beautiful. All trash was removed and the work area cleaned perfectly. Enrique is very professional in his approach to us and in all aspects of the work. We plan to hire him to rebuild a fence."

Finish carpentry involves working both on the inside and the outside of the house, and it can include cabinets, installing wood siding, hanging doors and putting in such items as wainscoting, bookcases and mantelpieces. Proficiency requires years of practice with a wide range of woodworking tools. The field of finish carpentry involves so many skilled tasks, such as cabinetmaking, that certain areas of home-building may be handled by just one person or even a small crew. Building cabinets is one of the more complex tasks, where at least the original work needs to be done in a woodworking shop. Once the cabinets are made, the finish carpenter will have the task of installing these items at the site. Landon Turner, owner of Turner Finish Carpentry. Residing in Pleasanton most of his life, Landon has been doing remodeling and finish carpentry for the last 10 yrs in the tri valley / bay area. With a wide range of experience and referrals he has started his own Finish Carpentry business.

"Recently had a home inspection performed in preparation of selling our house next year. The inspection revealed several small items that needed attention/repair, including: rotting window trim, warped garage side door, leaking gutters/downspouts, and damage to the concrete foundation. In addition, all the fascia trim showed extreme weathering and needed painting. We first thought of hiring a handyman to do all of these jobs and had a few come out but we were not impressed by their professionalism, leaving us to doubt their abilities to perform the needed repairs adequately. Then we came across Sebastian and CCS Construction Services on Home Advisor. CCS is licensed, insured, and carries worker's comp. We were very impressed by Sebastian's professionalism and his honesty when explaining the work that needed to be done and how it would be performed. So, we hired Sebastion and CCS Construction Services, and, all the work has been completed, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Sebastian and his team are hard working and very respectful. The work performed was of a high quality and you could tell that they took pride in their work. Thank you, Sebastian for a job well done!!!"

"Leo did a very extensive plumbing repair that required digging through my bathroom floor and replacing a huge pipe to the outside. He also prepared and installed piping and fixtures for a bathroom remodel. Always showed up when he said he would and had a great crew. Cleaned up as well. Would highly recommend."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

The cost to frame a 2,000-square-foot house can fall anywhere between $14,000 and $32,000. This price can increase or decrease depending on what type of framing you choose, the quality of the materials, the project's complexity, and whether you decide to hire a professional to do the job.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.
