"Excellent experience. Strong communications. Sensible pricing. Highly recommended. He purchased supplies, fabricated and installed oversized solar screens for west facing window wall. I plan to continue to use his business for other home projects. He is reliable and practical. No upselling. Honest."

"Jim responded promptly to my order placed on Angie's List for the Remote Computer Tune Up & Repair Deal.  He cleaned up the computer remotely, which was running very slowly, and required frequent re-boots.  Computer is running much faster now.  Great service.  Would highly recommend.

"We were delighted with the work, the cost and with Nick. He knows his business. The roof coating was done professionally and at very reasonable cost.  While at our daughter's home he checked the evaporative cooler and alerted us to the fact that we had no working damper. He also checked and repaired a plumbing issue we were having.

Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

If you’re not keen on using a traditional doggie door, there are some alternatives. One popular option is a solid, insulated door that you can lock when you’re out of the home for added security. You can also opt for a doggie screen, which you can lift and lower to allow your pooch access to the outdoors. These are a bit more convenient to use than a regular exterior door, although security could be an issue. You can also install a screen door with a small opening for your pup to prevent bugs from coming inside as your dog exits.

Many kinds of window screens, such as solar screens, are designed to reduce the amount of harmful ultraviolet rays that pass through them and enter your home. The materials typically have UV-blocking properties. However, they may not completely eliminate all UV rays from passing through your home. Different window screens are designed for different purposes, and not all are designed to block or reduce UV rays. Do your research to make sure you’re getting the type of window screen to suit your needs.

If your door has interchangeable inserts, you’ll likely want to swap the glass out for a screen during the summer months. The process to do so will vary by door, but you’ll follow these general steps: First, use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the retainer strips—the plastic strips running down both long (and sometimes all four) sides of the door. Then gently pull them out by hand. Carefully remove the glass insert from the door and replace it with the screen. Finally, push the plastic retainer strips back into place, working from top to bottom.

Options include fiberglass, aluminum, and pet-resistant screens to suit different needs.

The best type of window screen for your home depends on your region and your family’s needs. While fiberglass window screens are a popular, affordable, and easy-to-find choice, you may be looking for different benefits, such as a more high-end look, increased strength, or extended durability. The best window screen meets the demands of your home and its residents while staying within your budget.
