"Ted showed up on the time and date we scheduled. He assessed my home’s foundation and determined that the level of repair needed did not require his company’s intervention. I was extremely impressed with Ted’s honesty and forthrightness. In a world where homeowners are often faced with costly repairs it was refreshing to deal with Ted and by extension Dalinghaus Construction. If in the future I have need of such services I would not hesitate to call upon Ted and Dalinghaus Construction."

"AZ Foundations Solutions team was an incredible find for us in Benson! The process of foundation repair is really a work of art for this company and the crew we were fortunate to be hooked up with. Pier work done 10/17 thru 10/21 of 2022 - 13 piers were installed to correct our foundation issue. Poly work to be done 10/27 thru 10/28 so we are looking forward to getting the project finished then. Thank you to the following team members we had the pleasure to work with so far! You all were professional and very knowledgeable- greatly appreciate your sharing the information you did. "A -PAC was not too eager to do the job. They never called back after I discussed my chimney problem with Bob. Another company did the repair and did a wonderful job using 4 helical piers stabilizing and jacking the chimney up to it's original position. I would strongly recommend that you include this company in your list of foundation contractors."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

No, you shouldn’t lay bricks directly on dirt. While it might seem like a shortcut, it leads to a patio that shifts, sinks, and becomes a maintenance headache. Dirt expands, contracts, and erodes—none of which mix well with long-term stability. To build something that lasts, excavate the topsoil, compact a layer of crushed gravel, and add a coarse sand-setting bed. This layered base gives your bricks proper support, allows drainage, and helps block weeds from creeping through. Cutting corners here just means you’ll spend more time—and money—repairing your brick patio later.

Choose from an abundance of natural and synthetic options when perfecting your hardscape design. Stone veneer costs a bit less, holds up against the tests of time and weather, and also works best in curves and complex walls.

Natural stone, however, provides an organic look to a lawn while providing just as much strength as veneer. Don't forget you can chat with your mason about other common wall materials like brick, cinderblock, and concrete.

Modern brick homes have a brick facade over standard framing and sheathing, so the brick offers minimal added structural stability. A home with traditional brick construction is more durable than a stick-built home, as the double-layer brick walls and rebar resist higher lateral wind loads and support heavier loads up top, as well.

Yes, professionals have the skills to restore historical or intricate masonry by respecting traditional techniques and materials. They address damage meticulously, preserving the original design while ensuring stability and longevity.

Chimney mortar typically lasts 20 to 30 years, depending on its quality, local weather conditions, and maintenance. Over time, exposure to moisture, freezing, and thawing cycles can cause mortar to deteriorate, leading to cracks and gaps. Regular inspections and timely repairs, such as repointing or tuckpointing, can extend the lifespan of chimney mortar by ensuring the structure's integrity.
