"The initial response to my Angie's list big deal was prompt.  Sid came to my house to give me an estimate.  Originally he was going to remove wallpaper in 3 bathrooms.  When he saw the areas he kept saying he would do as much as he could then the rest would be more money.  The work was scheduled for early September.  When I contacted Sid in Sept. he was having problems with his truck but he did come on Saturday of that week to do the work.  He started in the master bathroom.  After a little more than 3 hours I checked in.  I was amazed to find only about 2.5 or 3 strips removed.  Sid looked stressed and the room was a mess.  I told him to stop for the day and we could reschedule the remaining hour and he gave me an estimate of $200 to complete the bathroom.  This was not a large area.  I had some difficulty in contacting Sid to schedule the rest of the work and I had to call Angies's List before I got a response from him.  Eventually he came back and removed the rest of the wallpaper.  This time it went smoothly and it took about 5hours.  I then said I did not want anymore paper removed and paid him $200.  This was a frustrating and disappointing experience.

"

The painter proceeded to roll on the paint beginning with the red accent wall first.   After all walls were painted  then cutting in around doors and windows.  Then he applied the second coat on the red wall and then applied a second cut-in and the second coat to all walls.  With the walls painted and repainted he started on the baseboards which he painted twice.  Project done!  And an excellent job was completed.

"I got a great price and the work done was magnificent! It only took a couple hours for the water softener and the electrical outlet. The drywall took a couple days due to texture and paint but overall it looks great! Very happy with it. Would recommend them to anyone"

"Jim Hudson at H.I.S. Service, Inc. recently painted my mom's living room, dining room and hallway. From the first telephone conversation discussing the job, to the day he finished up, it was a pleasure dealing with him. He did the job on time and at a great price, both of which were exactly as he originally estimated. He showed up when he said he would, worked hard all day, and left her with a beautifully painted house. He was friendly and good-natured, and the kind of contractor you feel comfortable having in your home. He went the extra mile, truly wanting her to be satisfied with the finished work. Mom is so pleased with how it turned out. We would recommend Jim without question."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is designed to be removed without damaging walls, making it a good choice for renters or temporary design changes. However, damage to paint or drywall can occur under certain conditions. To prevent issues, the wall surface must be properly prepared before application—it should be clean, smooth, dry, and correctly primed or painted. Applying wallpaper to a freshly painted surface can cause the paint to peel off during removal. Additionally, removing the wallpaper too quickly or aggressively can also cause damage. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for both application and removal.

The two most common reasons wallpaper does not stick are a lack of preparation and improper adhesive. Be sure to use the wallpaper paste designed for the type of paper you choose. Before beginning your project, make sure the walls are clean and free of dust, grease, and oils.

To layer wallpaper over wallpaper, inspect your existing wallpaper for problem areas. Damaged wallpaper should not be covered. If it’s okay to proceed, prep by turning off the electricity and removing any outlet and switch covers. Dust your walls and lightly rinse them to prevent the existing paper from peeling. Apply primer, then apply your new wallpaper.

It’s possible to hang your own wallpaper, but the process is tedious and potentially frustrating, and it can be challenging to get seams to line up and look clean and professional. Plus, depending on the type of wallpaper you’re installing, using too much or too little adhesive could cause damage to your drywall or plaster, peeling, and bubbling in the final product. It’s usually a better idea to hire a professional wallpaper installer to do the work for you, as the relatively low cost is justifiable, if only to avoid damage to your walls.

Your peel-and-stick wallpaper can fall off for multiple reasons, including high humidity levels, extreme temperature changes, poor installation, and even the wall surface. Textured walls can prevent the adhesive from fully sticking to the wall, making it more likely for the wallpaper to peel off. Low-quality wallpapers with weaker adhesives are also more likely to fall off prematurely.
