"In mid-February a flooring installer said both our toilets were leaking and needed new flanges. Being new to Camp Verde we didn't know what plumbing service to contact. Our son is friends with the owner of Mr. Rooter in Camp Verde, so that’s who we turned to. We went into their office and were greeted and listened to right away. We expected them to say they could come to our home the following week...but instead, they scheduled Alex to come to our home that same day. We were given an estimate, a senior discount, and immediately scheduled for the next morning. Upon removing the toilets, Alex determined there were no leaks and that only one toilet needed the flange replaced. He could have easily done both, and charged us for both, but he was honest regarding what really needed to be done. Plus, he did a free video inspection of the entire sewer line. Expecting the flooring people to return to finish their work, Alex reinstalled only one toilet and left the other one off. We made arrangements with Mr. Rooter that once the flooring was completed we wanted Alex to reinstall the toilets, not a flooring installer. I offered to pay at this point and was told I can pay when the job is 100% completed. When the flooring installer did not return and we were expecting company, Alex returned to reinstall the guest toilet. For the next month, with our consent, the Mr. Rooter office ladies (Bev and Sadie) called each week inquiring about the progress, or lack thereof, of our flooring. They were so patient with us. Finally after almost two months, and a different flooring company, our flooring was installed. Within a few hours of completion, Alex was back at our home reinstalling our toilets again. Although we hope we don’t need a plumber again soon, with the 1 year warranty, the genuine concern, trust (in not paying our bill for 2 months), and friendliness of Alex (and the rest of the staff), when we do, no doubt it will be Mr. Rooter of Camp Verde, and hopefully Alex."

"Tub to walk-in shower conversion. Larry was amazing to work with on my very goofy timeline, and William and his helper did a great job on the demo & installation. They took care of our existing property (protected the carpets, etc.) and did a great job cleaning up after the job was done. Highly recommend and I would hire this company again."

"Great presentation by Nick. Very nice, informative, professional and knowledgeable. Super quality products and vert6competitive pricing. Because of very busy installation schedules, it will take 4-6 weeks before walkin shower remodel can happen. We can wait, no problem. It will be worth it."

"Alex and Donavan were very thorough. Discovered more than what we called them for. We originally wanted information on sealing cracks to eliminate cricket infestation coming through cracks in stem wall. We were not interested in repairing foundation rebar which is typical in slab homes in AZ. They were knowledgeable and honest in their evaluation of our home."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, copper pipes can freeze, crack, and burst in cold weather. In fact, of all piping types used for plumbing, copper pipes burst most easily when frozen. This is because copper conducts energy and loses heat more quickly than other types of plumbing. Copper also won't expand when the water inside freezes. Instead, it bursts or splits to accommodate expanding frozen water.

Pipes are connected in a bathroom by a 3/4-inch to 1-inch line running from your water meter into your home. The line then splits, with the hot water line going to your water heater and the cold water line running into your home. The cold water line leads to the 1/2-inch water supply lines for your home’s toilet, tub, and sink. The hot water line runs from the water heater to all sinks and baths.

A backwater valve’s purpose is to let the water flow in one direction. It works like a little door that allows water to flow freely in one direction but stops it from flowing the opposite way. A backflow preventer is meant to prevent water from leaving your system, locking out wastewater in the process. Backflow preventers are commonly used by city sewer systems to stop residential wastewater from entering the water supply.

Yes, it is safe to turn off the main water valve. As long as you don’t force the shut-off valve and break it, you can’t damage the water supply pipes by shutting off the water. We wouldn’t recommend shutting it off regularly without a good reason. However, when you need to know what to do in a plumbing emergency, shutting off the water main is a safe way to reduce water damage inside your home.

Yes, rats can come up through drains. They can crawl through basement floor drains, lateral house drains, and roof drains. Installing rat blockers in your drains is the best way to repel rats and prevent them from entering your pipes. These are one-way valves that allow water and waste to flow out but keep rats from getting in.
