Customers say: Quality work

"I am completely blown away by this company and its employees!! I had a tech come out and give me an estimate to repair 2 windows that I was not able to open. I was very pleased with the estimate and decided to go ahead with the project. Unfortunately, parts had to be ordered and it took about 2 weeks to get them in. I was under the gun to get the windows repaired before my new blinds were installed and in the way. Joe Lawler worked with me to ensure that the windows were repaired in time. Everyone was super nice and extremely helpful! I would definitely recommend this company and would use them again in a heartbeat!"

Window Screen Repair FAQs, answered by experts

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.

The screen material you choose depends on your needs. Here are some differences to consider:

  • Fiberglass is the least expensive but needs replacing more often.

  • Aluminum suits almost any job and doesn’t stretch as easily as fiberglass.

  • Pet-resistant screens are more expensive than fiberglass or aluminum, but they’re also wind and weather-resistant.

  • Metal screens, like stainless steel, are the most expensive material for rescreening your porch or sunroom. However, they last for years and are golf ball-resistant.

You can trim an overhead garage door screen to fit your garage door opening. This is a particularly helpful hack if you have an irregularly sized garage door opening but are still interested in installing a garage door screen to keep pests and debris out. Trim the garage door screen carefully to avoid unsightly edges or an uneven fit.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

The cost of a window repair varies significantly depending on which part is damaged. Here is a breakdown of common repairs and their estimated costs:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track repair: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware issues: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Window screen replacement: $140–$480
