"Jonathan and his assistant did a great job! Rewired an antique chandelier and hung it on my vaulted ceiling. He even painted all the wiring and ceiling cap to match the light. They were professional and helpful explaining the work. Also installed two CO2 sensors that were overpriced. Estimates for future work were unfortunately high but I was happy with the job they did."

"They were great and very professional. In and out for a bathroom vent fan repair in under 30 minutes. However, that small job was $454 and they also tried to upsell me on replacing all of my breakers on my electrical panel ($2,576) as well as add a whole home surge protector ($918). Feels a bit excessive to push over $3,000 of work for what was started as a small job."

"Had a great experience with Uptop Electric! Great communication, very respectful and professional, and installed all five of my ceiling fans in just a little over two hours. Very affordable as well. Everything turned out great and I would definitely use them again!"

"Our main installer was Jesus, and he carefully explained each step of the work and then went over all the information we would need to know. We are very happy with all three items, saving electricity with the SolaTube as we no longer have to turn lights on during the day in our Master bath dressing area, we hope that the Solar attic fan is helping to keep the house cooler by exchanging the air in the attic when it gets hot. In our small home office we replaced an old skylight with new double glass skylight with a shade system and this has made a big difference in the office. Sunshine Experts, LLC did a great job for us and we are very happy to recommend them when anyone asks us about our experience."

"Was fine!  Took him about an hour after trying out and testing different wiring scenarios, but he finally figured out the Limiter was shot.  He told me how to get a free replacement from Hunter and wired the ceiling fan so it was ready for us to plug the replacement in when it arrived.  Cleaned up after himself.
Nice, clean guy.  His apprentice didn't say a word, but my overall impression was that he was nice as well.  I felt comfortable with them in my home and wouldn't hesitate to call Greenlight again.

"We had a complete closet demo and remodel.
Complete Tub fixture replacement.
Downstairs replacement of baseboards of center island & pantry baseboards.
These were just a start of the items we wanted to begin.  After the visit, we were told that we would have an email with examples of closets and associated estimates. No email or phone call was provided after the visit. Very odd considering that they were recommended so highly in the community.

---Do not know if this is any relevance or not, but we are an LGBT family and it very obvious to us while making the appointment that this is a Christian organization. This made no difference to us, as we just wanted the jobs completed.---

Update: The owner and his daughter personally visited us this evening and profusely apologized for his company dropping the ball. He reiterated that his company does not discriminate and asked for a second chance to earn our business. He seemed genuinely upset and wanted to assure us that he valued our business. We believe him and want to encourage others to give this company a chance to earn your trust. "

"Josh was communicative, prompt, and thorough. He took his time to make sure the job was done correctly and ensured a safe result. We are very pleased with Josh and his team and call on them often for everything electrical. We will be calling them again soon to schedule the install of a surge protector at our electrical panel and the installation of two outdoor ceiling fans. This is a great company with well trained electricians and very reasonable prices. We highly recommend them!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Many ceiling fan mounts feature a design that can accommodate slight slopes by using a ball joint mechanism at the end of the downrod. If your ceiling has a steeper slope than your fan allows for, you can install a downrod that will allow your fan to safely hang below the slope.

Installing a ceiling fan where no wiring exists is a difficult and potentially dangerous job that should not be attempted as a DIY project. It is recommended to hire a certified electrician to build the necessary electrical infrastructure. In some areas, building codes require this work to be done by a professional to ensure safety and compliance. Due to the complexity, this type of installation is a significant job that could cost up to $2,000.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.
