I can't say enough good things about JKC (Jeff). He is totally honest, fair and his attention to detail is amazing. He is very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of construction and is great at finding innovative solutions and making good suggestions. Jeff game me a "cost plus" quote for the deck with a "not-to-exceed". The not-to-exceed quoted was $5,000 less than the next lowest quote. Jeff then built a bench, repaired an exterior beam and provided new supports for a large deck cover all within his original quote. Attention to details examples - he put weather striping cover on top of all deck joists to prevent decay (what good is composite decking if the joists go rotten). This took two men to days to complete. No other contractor would do that. The remodel included new shelving in the new master walk-in closet. During the inspection Jeff didn't like the work that had been done. I told Jeff that it was fine but he was not satisfied and had his men remove all of the shelving and then rebuild them. What other contractor would do that?
It's now been six years since Jeff did the remodel and I can say that we have not found one thing that we would do differently. The deck has been completed for 2 weeks and we love it.
This is not a solicited comment and my only association with Jeff is the work he has done for me. I never post comments unless I am upset about something but Jeff's work has been so good that I just had to comment.

Chris Lloyd was excellent to work with -- he took our general design ideas and developed them into a design that literally transformed the backyard from a nondescript space with an original concrete slab patio and long-neglected grass area into an inviting and aesthetically attractive environment. What's more, he developed the plan with input from us by phone and email since we live in Maryland and only had one opportunity to meet with him at the townhouse this past April, when we were in Flagstaff and met with him and two other landscape companies to solicit proposals. As we finalized the plan, he was also helpful in translating for us the pattern and color differences in the Belgard pavers between the ones available in the Southwest and the ones we viewed on the East Coast. When the installation happened, Chris was able to get permission from the property manager of an adjacent apartment complex to temporarily remove a section of chain link fence on the apartments property, which permitted access to our backyard, saving substantial labor costs to either have wheel-barrowed the materials several hundred feet around the end of the row of townhouses ours is part or or to have had to move the materials to the backyard via our garage and dining room. He also coordinated the installation with a painting company that was scheduled to paint the townhouse's exterior in August, saving us the extra logistics of doing that communication and coordination between the two contractors. The resulting installation was done in the time frame we were told to expect with a slight delay in the installation of the tree and shrubs because of my timing in making the choices for those items. After it was complete, my son, who lives in the townhouse, noticed a couple of minor issues with spacing between some of the pavers on the perimeter the patio, which Chris Lloyd was prompt to fix. It was a delight to work with Chris and Morning Dew and I've mentioned his work to the manager of our town home association management company in case owner owners are thinking about upgrading their yards. So moving long distances and going into storage for a time is routine for us, with corporate transfers. We got 3 moving bids. We had narrowed it to two movers, one of which was Wheaton. We read all the reviews, both pertaining to the sending end (Castroville, Ca) Wheaton Van Lines and the receiving end(Austin, Texas) end for Wheaton Moving and Van Lines. I liked the other company but the salesman Wheaton sent out to the house sold my husband on Wheaton. He promised our antiques and wood and upholstered furniture would all be wrapped and the high end Wesley Alllen bed-frames for both beds would also be wrapped in plastic. Before I left they were packing up the last bed-frame and "wrapping" it in plastic. I pleaded with them to tape all the hardware and small bed-frame pieces to the headboard, so they wouldn't get lost. When our load arrived after one month in storage, not one thing was covered. They lay custom powdered coated iron bed-frames on exposed aggregate driveway with nothing underneath, so the finish was badly scratched down to bare metal. Not one piece which went on the truck "covered" was covered coming off the truck. They lost four of the leg supports and all of the hardware for our king-size bed. Since it was a 15 year old bed, I had to come up with creative solutions of how to restore our once functional, pristine-condition bed. We slept on our mattress on the floor for over 6 weeks. Wheaton claims department did nothing to help us out, and suggested we buy a $40 Hollywood bed-frame which would not attach to our head and foot-board. They were rude and accusatory, my husband submitted one claim and left off a few things which had been broken. They wouldn't accept a separate claim, they said that was their policy, only one claim. Since the load crossed state lines, I don't think this is legal, but I need to further research this. We had a set of 6 French oak antique chairs in perfect condition (I had even moved the rush seats myself to ensure they made it). One chair looked as though it had been smashed to pieces in bar-room scene from an old Western. An antique cabinet, was badly gouged, our oak parquet coffee table looked as if a two year old carved into it with a pen knife in multiple places. Newly upholstered chairs, which left our house covered with soft cloth covers came off the truck bare and had dark grease marks across the arms and the protective arm-shields were removed on one of them, so the damage couldn't be hidden. When they unloaded the truck to our house I asked that they cover the entry to each carpeted room, most of the house is tile. They covered the tile but not the carpets, even though I made this request several times. I had brand-new carpeting and now it needs cleaning. Oh, I forgot to mention that when they arrived to unload, it was a very hot day and within the first 15 minutes one of the guys quit! We purchased insurance but it had a deductible, and the amount Wheaton paid out less the deductible does not begin to cover the actual repair or damage costs which they caused. They also would only allow one claim form for damages and they expect you to know how much refinishing will cost before you submit a claim, I think most people have no idea of refinishing costs in a new area. So in short, learn from our mistakes, it will be several months and a lot of money to undo the damage this company did to our household. They did send out several local people to survey the damage, they all commented on how bad the damage was. However Wheaton's national claims department was not at all sympathetic, in fact their claims people should not be in any kind of customer service position, because they are totally clueless. Z house can accommodate up to 8 kids per party, and each kid gets a "blank" bowl or cup to paint as they see fit. The cost of $15 per child includes use of Z House's beautiful backyard patio area for three hours, so parents can bring their own meal, cake, etc. Dina also gives tours of her workshop during the party, including looking at the kiln -- the kids love that part. Dina takes the pottery everyone has painted, and then glazes it and fires it. The kids have their completed, personalized pottery back in about two weeks -- Dina makes very everyday-useful pieces that are dishwasher- and microwave-safe. In the end, everyone had a great time. I can't recommend Z House highly enough! "},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/az/flagstaff/z-house-gallery-and-boutique-reviews-7890126.htm"},"position":10}]}

A nice guy but unfortunately with questionable ethics and workmanship. Replaced sub-floor that caused us to have a substantial lump under our laminate. The pieces no longer fit together. He used chalking to cover a mistake instead of correctly installing trip. We would not recommend this company,
This was a complicated project. It involved substantial demolition of an existing patio and construction of an elaborate outdoor kitchen and TV area. Overall the project went very well. We originally had worries about city plans approval, materials and the need to work around some problem...

"This was no small project and this contractor is not typical... a second floor deck around 3 sides of a 6 bedroom house done in a way I could park a car on the deck. Workmanship was 5 star, worked full days, used quality materials and the fit and finish is beyond our expectations. Phil and his crew are AMAZING!! I only have pictures of the two additional projects, one a storage area and the other an eating area built on top of a tree with a 1.5" gap between deck and tree platform to conform to code. Non better to do business with!"

FAQs for patio cover service projects in Flagstaff, AZ
While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct home features. Porches offer a roof that protects from the elements when coming and going from the house. Generally, porches are on the front of your home. On the other hand, decks are generally built in the backyard of a home and offer no roof or protection from the elements, like rain or snow. Porches typically require less maintenance and upkeep thanks to the roof, but both features require regular cleaning and repairs to maintain good condition.
The cost of an awning is $1,400 to $4,400 on average. However, this cost could be as low as $100 or as high as $7,500, depending on a few factors. The type of awning you choose, the size you need, and your location all affect your overall cost.
For example, portable awnings you can put up and take down yourself range from $100 to $400, whereas motorized awnings are more luxurious and cost between $2,000 and $3,500.
The cost to build a deck is $8,025 on average. However, this cost can range anywhere from $1,500 to $22,000, depending on multiple factors, such as size, materials, and deck type. You can expect to pay $30 to $60 per square foot when building a new deck.
Cedar decks are often the most cost-effective option, ranging from $4 to $9per square foot for materials. However, pressure-treated decking, which is resistant to rot, is more expensive, ranging from $15 to $25 per square foot for materials.
Awnings are either fixed or retractable and can be paired with a variety of cover materials. Fixed awnings are a permanent outdoor feature of a building. These are highly durable and require ongoing maintenance. Once installed, the position of this awning cannot be changed.
Retractable awnings are more popular than fixed awnings since the cover can open and close. This allows homeowners to open and close the awning, depending on the weather. When not in use, it can be closed to allow for extra space.
Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:
Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire
Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning
Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings
Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust
Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option
Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage
