"I had no idea what the problem was, but I knew who to call. We used Parrco before and it went so well that I told myself we found an electrician for life. I called Javier late in the day and told him about the issues. I needed the job done ASAP due to the sale of my home. He had a really busy schedule, but went out of his way to squeeze us in early the next day. He had it figured out right away and never charged me for a special service call. Talk about integrity, you just don't see that anymore in this type of business. He got everything working and even installed a new part to ensure the issues were resolved. I can't begin to say how good Parrco is, but you won't find a more reliable, professional and honest electrician. Javier is even a nice guy to talk to :) Trust me, you won't be disappointed when using Parrco Electric. Thanks Javier!! Ryan"

"Frankie called to schedule the appointment and were even willing to come out the same day. Scheduled for the next day. Andy showed up on time was very friendly, explained everything through the process and was very efficient. I would highly recommend. They installed 4 fans and 2 lights. We will be using them in the future."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

While the rating will tell you how many watts the refrigerator needs at the peak of its cycle, it requires additional wattage to start. At the bare minimum, you’ll need a 1,500-watt generator to get the fridge up and running after a blackout. A 2,000-watt generator should be sufficient for most home refrigerators.

The average cost to install a home generator is $5,200, but total costs can range from $500 to $18,000 or more. The final price depends on several factors, including the generator's size, type, brand, fuel source, and the cost of labor and assembly. The generator's size is the most significant cost factor, as units that can power larger homes with higher energy demands cost more.

Cost breakdowns by generator type are typically as follows:

  • Portable or Emergency Backup Generators (1kW–7.5kW): $500–$2,000

  • Partial-Home Generators (9kW–20kW): $2,000–$6,500

  • Whole-House Generators (22kW–48kW): $5,000–$18,000

To ensure you get the right size unit for your needs without overpaying, consider hiring an electrician to calculate the electrical load of your essential appliances. It is also recommended to get at least three quotes from qualified installers to find the best fit for your budget.

Yes, installing a generator usually increases your property value because buyers are getting the added peace of mind knowing they’ll be able to maintain power through blackouts. In most cases, you should see close to a 100% return on investment (ROI). Keep in mind that home generators usually need a permanent foundation, and installing a concrete slab will likely raise your property taxes slightly.

In most cases, there are no tax credits available for home generators. However, that’s a general statement that applies to federal tax credits, so you might have access to state or local tax incentives. You can check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE) for more information about your area. If you hire a reliable home generator installer, they should also know if there are any state or local perks you can use to reduce your installation costs, including tax breaks and rebates.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.
