"**Unprofessional and Unreliable Service – Avoid Rooter Ranger** We had an extremely disappointing experience with Rooter Ranger. From start to finish, the job was plagued by poor communication, unprofessional behavior, and a lack of accountability. We feel misled, overcharged, and left with incomplete and subpar work. **Key Issues:** 1. **Invoice Inaccuracies** - The initial invoice labeled as an estimate was never updated to reflect the actual scope of work. We were charged for tasks, like concrete removal, that weren’t even performed. - Despite the work remaining unfinished, Rooter Ranger pushed to collect payment prematurely, making us question their commitment to completing the job. 2. **False Promises** - The company assured us they’d assist with the insurance process and provide a non-invasive solution for pipe repairs. Both claims turned out to be false. We had to seek external help for insurance, and despite promises, they wanted to damage our kitchen floor and we had to come up with a solution that came with additional cost unaccounted for. 3. **Dishwasher Oversight** - A critical error involving the dishwasher line was ignored until we identified it. This required additional, costly fixes that Rooter Ranger failed to cover or manage professionally. 4. **Workmanship Issues** - Structural mistakes, uneven concrete, and poorly installed plumbing were common throughout the job. For instance, toilets were installed improperly, and the master bathroom plumbing still leaks. 5. **Permit and Inspection Failures** - The permit process was mismanaged, leading to failed inspections. Rooter Ranger failed to communicate inspection results and left us to manage issues with city inspectors. At this point I still don't know if we passed inspection 6. **Unprofessional Conduct** - The revolving door of inexperienced workers made it feel like we were relying on unqualified friends rather than professionals. - We have called leaders, supervisors and directors about issues and everyone we have talked with has since dropped the ball and communicated property or taken any sense of accountability. In summary, our experience with Rooter Ranger was unacceptable. Their poor communication, unprofessionalism, and lack of quality control left us frustrated and forced to handle their oversights ourselves. We still have leaks, we feel we have been ripped off and still no idea we have passed city inspection. We would not recommend this company to anyone seeking reliable or professional plumbing services."

All plumbing services from installing a bathroom faucet kitchen faucet water heaters repipe redrains . I've been doing plumbing work for the last 8yrs

"It started well and steadily went downhill; and the job is still incomplete! I have pictures and text exchanges of everything that was going on. During the initial visit (May 19th), after the faucet came off, I realized the sink will also needed to be replaced. He said he has a sink and will be back in few days. I agreed. VISIT 2: The sink and faucet were installed but not without difficulties—he had hard time with the caulking gun, not realizing the foil inside the silicon bottle also needed to be poked in order for it to flow. We figured this out. Countertop around the sink was very messy, but I said I can clean it. I paid for the service, and was somewhat satisficed with the time and price. Few hours later with the sink weighted down, caulking was lifting/separating from the countertop and faucet was leaking. I texted the plumber with pictures and said he will stop by to see/fix it. VISIT 3: He came back, installed a new faucet and caulked the sink again. Faucet was working great, but caulking was unfinished and sloppy; and didn't hold either. Plumber said he will get a new sink. VISIT 4: Plumber arrived with the new sink but didn't bring the clips and went to Lowe's to get some. I was in a middle of an online work meeting so I let him work - he installed the sink and when he was leaving I quickly asked asked about caulking he said the sink sits tight without it but if I want I can caulk it, and I "Still have the silicon from last time" - That silicon tube was dried and gone, but I said I will try... I also did not check the faucet. Later that afternoon I realized the faucet was not installed properly, he did not clear the caulking from the previous sink before installing the new one. I googled how to install/caulk a kitchen sink and found out that the installer needs to spread caulking material before and after placing the sink. I contacted the plumber and he said that he had done above and beyond and will need to charge me if he needs to come again. My response to him was that I was asking him to come and finish a job he started. That was three days ago (June 9th) and I didn't hear anything back."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

If your water softener repair is fairly straightforward, like a simple filter replacement, then you can probably do it yourself with little risk. However, anything beyond a simple fix should be addressed by someone with extensive plumbing expertise to avoid costly water softener problems, like leaks.

That said, even simple problems can be complicated to diagnose, particularly if your water softener is attached to a whole-house treatment system. So, unless you feel absolutely certain that the problem is an easy fix that you can take on yourself, it's probably best to hire a plumber to diagnose and fix the problem.

A good hardness level for drinking water can vary based on personal preferences, but an ideal level is 3.5 to 7 GPG. This means your water isn’t soft or hard. However, some people prefer the “fresh” taste from the minerals in hard water, while others like the smoother, “slippery” texture of soft water.

It’s not a good idea to oversize your water softener. Doing so will mean the tank doesn’t get full, which can lead to channeling. This leads to a large portion of the resin beads not being utilized and the beads at the bottom of the tank being overused. Over time, this will reduce the efficiency of your system, not to mention that the upfront cost of an oversized softener is unnecessarily high. If you have a timed regeneration cycle rather than a demand-based one, you’ll also spend far more on replacing salt than you need to.

A tankless water heater should be at least 10 feet away from a water softener, although the pros you hire for water softener installation can help you determine the correct distance. These two units need to have some distance between them to prevent hot water from the tankless water heater from flowing backward into the water softener when it runs a regeneration cycle.

It’s unlikely that hard water on its own could cause substantial hair loss or damage, though it’s true that bathing in hard water can cause your scalp to feel itchy or flaky and might dull your hair’s natural shine. Using high-quality shampoo and conditioner or buying a whole-home water softener can decrease these issues.
