"Zachs team was absolutely amazing! They were on time, professional and knowledgeable. I had 5 windows being replaced and there were a couple of large furniture pieces that I could not move alone. they jumped right in and handled it! When they vacuumed the newly installed windows,he even vacuumed under the furniture that had been moved! customer Service at its finest. I will definitely comeback to Power Home Remodeling when I am ready to do doors."

"The wind blew a window screen off and it was dented beyond repair. Joey answered our call and had it scheduled for replacement and completed the work within three days, fitting it in between his other jobs. He was professional, courteous, timely, and communicated with us each day. I would hire Joey again for other work as needed."

"I hired Gatsby glass of Scottsdale to fix a broken window in my home and I was very impressed. From the moment I made the call to them completing the work yesterday, everything went smoothly. Most of it was due to a young lady in the back office by the name of Seleen."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Some local utilities or state programs offer rebates or tax incentives for energy-efficient upgrades, including solar screens. Make sure to check with your local energy provider or government agency to see if you qualify for any cost-saving programs. Federal tax credits may also be available for qualifying window and exterior home upgrades.

It is generally recommended to remove window screens for the winter, especially in climates with heavy snow, freezing rain, or frigid temperatures. Removing them helps prevent damage to the screen mesh and frames that can be caused by ice and moisture buildup between the screen and the window. Taking out the screens also allows more natural light and warmth into your home during shorter winter days and makes it easier to clean your windows thoroughly. In warmer climates where harsh weather is not a concern, the decision is more about personal preference; some homeowners prefer the clearer view, while others leave them in for convenience.

The best type of window screen for your home depends on your region and your family’s needs. While fiberglass window screens are a popular, affordable, and easy-to-find choice, you may be looking for different benefits, such as a more high-end look, increased strength, or extended durability. The best window screen meets the demands of your home and its residents while staying within your budget.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

Window screens are available in several standard sizes. Common dimensions include 24 to 36 inches wide by 36 to 48 inches tall, as well as sizes like 18 by 14 inches and 20 by 20 inches. These often correspond to standard window sizes, such as 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall or 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall. Screens are also sold in replacement rolls to accommodate various dimensions. It is always best to measure your windows for accuracy before a repair or replacement. If your windows are a non-standard size, you will likely need to order custom screens, which can increase the cost. However, a screen does not necessarily have to fit the entire window, so you may be able to use a standard-size screen even if your window is slightly larger.
