"Ben was fantastic - we got a quote for our repairs for the following week. Ben texted about 30 min prior and arrived on time. He did a fantastic job repairing our shower door and made sure all was perfect when he completed it. Would certainly hire again."

"I met with Brad Penner today, what a knowledgeable sales representative. He made suggestions to my large French doors and made great suggestions to my windows that is saving me money. I had a terrible experience with another company 4 years ago and Arizona windows and doors had to come out and start from scratch on a bay window that was absolutely a mess. I am so thrilled with the finished product that now I am ready to replace all windows and doors. Brad was so easy to work with and I was pleased with the color choices and products we choose. We are getting married in April and hopefully will be able to have the project completed so we can show our home off. Thank you Arizona Windows and Door Store., but most of all thank you Brad Penner. <"

"Tye did an amazing job with screening in our porch. It looks great, he was affordable, and helped us when I threw him a post tension slab curve ball at the end. Our cats love it! He also did a sliding 4ft screen door instead of a standard door and it is so cool. Thanks Tye!"

"Hunter did a great job on my sliding glass door. He has attention to detail and is NOT one of those "fly by night" contractors. I am very pleased with my new door and recommend State 48 for anyone needing doors or windows. Thank you Hunter."

"This family owned business (father and son) did an awesome job of screening in our back patio. They arrived as scheduled and completed the job in one day. Very professional and friendly all the way through. We'd highly recommend them."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

No, it’s not safe to leave a doggy door open. It might be more convenient, especially at night when you just want to lay in bed. However, when you leave it open, it increases the chance of other critters getting in without your knowledge. Also, it leaves your pup unsupervised for hours at a time.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

Many kinds of window screens, such as solar screens, are designed to reduce the amount of harmful ultraviolet rays that pass through them and enter your home. The materials typically have UV-blocking properties. However, they may not completely eliminate all UV rays from passing through your home. Different window screens are designed for different purposes, and not all are designed to block or reduce UV rays. Do your research to make sure you’re getting the type of window screen to suit your needs.

If your door has interchangeable inserts, you’ll likely want to swap the glass out for a screen during the summer months. The process to do so will vary by door, but you’ll follow these general steps: First, use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the retainer strips—the plastic strips running down both long (and sometimes all four) sides of the door. Then gently pull them out by hand. Carefully remove the glass insert from the door and replace it with the screen. Finally, push the plastic retainer strips back into place, working from top to bottom.

Window screens can help keep some heat out of your home, which is one benefit of using them in summer. It’s also the reason experts suggest removing your screens in winter—so it’s easier for the sun’s warmth to filter into your home. This will keep you cozier and potentially reduce your heating bills.
