"We hired Kelvin to install some ceiling fans. He was pleasant, skilled, and efficient. We were so pleased with his work that we have used him for several additional electrical projects. Each time he provided estimates, completed the work on a timely basis and we were extremely pleased with the results. He is experienced, knowledgeable, and very pleasant to work with. "They were great and very professional. In and out for a bathroom vent fan repair in under 30 minutes. However, that small job was $454 and they also tried to upsell me on replacing all of my breakers on my electrical panel ($2,576) as well as add a whole home surge protector ($918). Feels a bit excessive to push over $3,000 of work for what was started as a small job."

"Sergio did a great job with all my home theater and electrical needs! He installed two ceiling fans and an added an electrical outlook. He mounted a 32in LCD TV to our bedroom and rerouted the cable wire behind the wall so that there were no wires visible at all. He also wired our main familyroom with speaker cable behind the walls and mounted the speakers to our ceilings. He did all work very well and on time. He also cleaned up very well after himself. I would recommend him to anyone."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Installing a ceiling fan where no wiring exists is a difficult and potentially dangerous job that should not be attempted as a DIY project. It is recommended to hire a certified electrician to build the necessary electrical infrastructure. In some areas, building codes require this work to be done by a professional to ensure safety and compliance. Due to the complexity, this type of installation is a significant job that could cost up to $2,000.

There are many types of ceiling fans, from self-automated smart ceiling fans to outdoor ceiling fans that provide additional comfort to your patio. What you choose all comes down to function and personal taste.

Consider your ceiling height when selecting a ceiling fan. Rooms with ceilings under eight feet high will do well with low-profile ceiling fans, also known as flush-mount or hugger ceiling fans. If your home has cathedral ceilings or ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, you’ll need a large ceiling fan with a heavy-duty motor to get adequate air circulation.

Many ceiling fan mounts feature a design that can accommodate slight slopes by using a ball joint mechanism at the end of the downrod. If your ceiling has a steeper slope than your fan allows for, you can install a downrod that will allow your fan to safely hang below the slope.

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.
