"Alex and Donavan were very thorough. Discovered more than what we called them for. We originally wanted information on sealing cracks to eliminate cricket infestation coming through cracks in stem wall. We were not interested in repairing foundation rebar which is typical in slab homes in AZ. They were knowledgeable and honest in their evaluation of our home."

"AZ Foundations Solutions team was an incredible find for us in Benson! The process of foundation repair is really a work of art for this company and the crew we were fortunate to be hooked up with. Pier work done 10/17 thru 10/21 of 2022 - 13 piers were installed to correct our foundation issue. Poly work to be done 10/27 thru 10/28 so we are looking forward to getting the project finished then. Thank you to the following team members we had the pleasure to work with so far! You all were professional and very knowledgeable- greatly appreciate your sharing the information you did. "Mr. Charles White repaired cracks in my concreted basement wall. After his assessment, he explained his repair approach, the type of material he would use to fill the cracks and identified the product he planned to use to recover the wall before he closed it. When he arrived on the work day, he asked again if I had questions and then invited me to see the different stages as he completed the work. He did very good cleanup and clearly has a lot of experience in this area. I highly recommend his company."

Foundation Repair questions, answered by experts

Homeowners insurance doesn’t usually cover a sinking foundation. While insurance will cover some kinds of foundation damage, coverage is usually limited to damage from natural disasters, fire, or impact. Foundation sinking is rarely covered by insurance, so it’s a good idea to make repairs early on to avoid costly problems in the future.

If your concrete steps have crumbled or chipped, you can fix them by removing any chips or flakes, cleaning and wetting the affected area, applying a concrete bonding agent, and finally applying new concrete, usually in the form of Portland cement. For widespread damage, you can consider concrete resurfacing instead. For fixing concrete spalling that has led to deep damage, you might need to remove damaged material, add structural supports, and pour new concrete into a mold.

Foundation settlement should be a concern if you notice it happening suddenly and years after construction, if the settlement results in signs of structural damage in your home, or if it happens after a flood, nearby sinkhole, or earthquake. Some signs of severe foundation settlement that should prompt you to call a repair specialist include sloping or uneven floors, large cracks in your foundation, moisture issues or pest infestation in your basement or crawl space, and an uneven roofline.

Many horizontal cracks in home foundations result from water and soil pressure from outside of the building or from a footing that is shifting. Under those circumstances, horizontal cracks are a structural problem that requires repair before they become worse and more difficult to fix. However, in very specific cases, thin horizontal cracks may simply be a cosmetic blemish due to concrete shrinkage.

Yes, slab foundations can sink just like any other foundation type. Floating slabs are the most prone to differential settlement and foundation sinking because they sit directly on the surface of the earth. Slab foundations that have footings—including slab-on-grade foundations and monolithic slab foundations—get additional support from soil further down and are less likely to sink over time, especially under larger, heavier structures.
