"MLGW turned off our power when we asked them to come out because of flickering lights. We called 2 electricians who told it would 10 days -2 weeks before they came out. When we called Wolfe Brothers, someone actually took down our information. Shortly afterwards an electrician called and said his day was full, but he considered this an emergency. We were most grateful."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Small jobs welcome

"I couldn’t be more impressed with the work done by this handyman. From start to finish, he was professional, reliable, and incredibly skilled. Every task was completed with precision and pride, and the quality of his craftsmanship truly stands out. What I appreciated most was his attention to detail he didn’t just fix the problem, he made sure everything looked clean, sturdy, and better than before. He showed up on time, communicated clearly, and treated my home with respect. If you’re looking for someone who does outstanding work and genuinely cares about getting it right, he’s the one you want. Highly recommended."

"Chad and his crew worked through the night wiring my addition so that the framers could keep working the next day! Super knowledgeable and recommend service in places that made excellent sense that I never thought about. Such a great company to work with, even came back to make sure we passed final inspection."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Home power is measured in kilowatt-hours, commonly expressed as kWh. The average home uses between 800 and 1,000 kWh per month. Peak usage (and highest bills) occurs in the middle of summer and the depths of winter. Keeping on top of your usage during these crucial months will lower your annual average usage considerably.

We highly recommend that you use an electrician to wire a doorbell if you don't have electrical skills. You can tackle this project on your own, but it would be best done alongside a professional to reduce all the safety risks, as working with wires can be dangerous and potentially deadly.

Most standard residential water heaters, which are typically around 40 gallons and use 240 volts and between 3,500 and 5,500 watts, require a 30-amp, two-pole circuit breaker. For smaller, point-of-use water heaters using 120 volts and between 1,500 and 3,000 watts, a 30-amp breaker is also often adequate. However, some models may have different needs; units that use more watts than average may require a 40-amp breaker, while smaller units might only need a 20-amp breaker. Newer, tankless, or more energy-efficient models can also require a higher amperage. Having the correct breaker size is crucial for safe and efficient operation, so it's best to consult a licensed electrician to determine the specific needs of your water heater.

Provided you leave the switch in the off position, your broken bulb shouldn’t be drawing any power. However, there’s always the risk that the switch is turned on by accident, potentially causing electrical damage or even a fire. Plus, broken glass in the home is never ideal. For safety, it’s a good idea to remove broken bulbs as soon as possible. If you’re in doubt, a local lighting professional can help you remove the bulb safely and quickly.
