Professional Home Improvement is a small company owned by myself, Barrett Yeager. I started this business about two years ago after 14 years of being in the business. I am devoted to running a honest, reliable company that takes an enormous amount of pride in our work. I keep a small crew of permanent full-time employees and temporary job to job employees when needed. Some of the services Professional Home Improvement Co offers include ; remodeling and additions, interior /exterior painting, hardwood flooring, tile flooring, fencing, decks, gazebos, rotten wood replacement, general maintenance and upkeep, pressure washing, handyman services , custom shutters, drywall repair /finishing etc. We can remodel your entire home or just mount a tv on the wall for you. Our small group of employees has over 60 years of experience in this business. Over the years I've seen lots of people taken advantage of and ripped off by other companies, so I started Professional Home Improvement to provide honest fair prices to people. Professional Home Improvement is committed to putting professionalism and honesty back into this line of work.

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

It's perfectly fine to just refinish the top of your table instead of all of it. In fact, that's what most people do. After all, why finish the bottom of the table that nobody ever sees? Of course, depending on how exposed the legs of your table are, you might at least consider refinishing them.

You can certainly seal butcher block countertops, but not permanently. Due to the nature of the materials, it will require resurfacing down the line. This is true no matter what you use to seal the countertop, including polyurethane and mineral oil. Polyurethane will last until the countertop is damaged in some way, and mineral oil should be reapplied every two to three months. To maximize the longevity of the polyurethane sealer, apply two coats.

If your wood furniture is sticky after already cleaning it, it’s likely from using too many polishes or waxes. You’ll need to remove some of the excess wax with a cloth and warm water mixed with dish soap. You can then reapply the wax or polish afterwards, but try to use a much smaller amount and wipe away any excess.

Furniture restoration involves cleaning and minor cosmetic repairs to restore a piece of furniture to its original condition or as close to it as possible. In some cases, restoration may involve refinishing, but the end goal is still to make the furniture look like it did when it was brand-new. Refinishing furniture involves stripping and sanding away the existing finish and then applying a new finish like polyurethane, which may make the item look quite different from the original condition.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.
