Above expectation. 1) The work crew came daily and worked all day until the job was finished. 2) They were very polite and respectful of us and willingly fulfilled our special requests. 3) At least one of the crew of Latino workers spoke fluent English. 4) They did a tremendous job! 5) They treated our house like we would have. They actually cared that it was done right and well. 6) The owners of the company, Bill, and his wife, Carol, were very easy to work with and very responsive to our needs, even when they were out of town.

They worked me in fast. Looks great. The only disappointment was the new kitchen floor (where the repair was done) couldn't be stained to the color of my other more vintage floors in the house.

They were great. I think their price was very competitive. They were professional, courteous and down to earth. They were also very, very knowledgeable and that was the deciding factor. I have an old home and they understood how it was put together. What would match and what wouldn't match that the other people that do modern homes just wouldn't understand. A great choice for anyone in a period home that needs the job done right.

I went through Angie’s List to pick someone to resurface 2 floors. They were competitive. They did a very professional job. A lot of depending on how fast the stain dried to put the wood on top of it. Very good end results.

Everything went well. The owner came to my house and walked through with me and spent a lot of time talking about the type of floors and wood I had. He went over the process in detail. It was clear he was very knowledgeable about the floors and process. They had the job completed in two days. The floors look brand new now, even though they're over 70 years old. I would recommend them to anyone.

Arrived at scheduled time and were able to sand and stain and apply the first coat of polyurethane that day.
Came back the next morning and applied the second coat. Everything went smoothly with minimal dust and inconvenience.
The floors look absolutely beautiful. Truly professional company. Highly recommended.

The office manager scheduled the work and followed up quickly.  The workers were polite, neat, and careful.  They cleaned up the their job site and hauled away the old carpet, as promised.  I highly recommend their service.  The floors look great!

the Sub floor was a beast.  4-6" thick suspended concrete slab under bathroom floor.   they worked all day to demo the floor and it took another day to get the joists and subfloor in.    It was all quite a tough job.   Bill and his gus stuck with it and got the job done and we are extremely pleased.    It is  the second or third time I have used Mid Town Hardwood and we have been pleased every time.   Service, quality, and responsiveness are consistently good.

Bill and his crew did a great job. They found a way to keep out internet connection live even though it was in the room being refinished- made a little shelf for it! Also our floor color was difficult to match but they got it spot on right. They were quick and we noticed almost no dust during the process. We are extremely pleased and highly recommend them!

Bill came out as soon as I called. Told them we had time constraints as had tenant moving in (as it happened they delayed moving). Got estimates for two things: 1. take gummy stuff off parquet floor and seal (think it was wet underlayment from prior tenant's carpet); 2. refinish upstairs flat oak flooring stain to match as best they can with hall stain. Put in threshold if stains do not match close.Well, they scheduled a time; then cancelled, then set up another time, and showed up very late. As house was empty told them where the key was so we have no idea when they came and worked.
Sanded, stained and then sealed, then came back to seal again. Wonderful. Except for the fact that their $609 price was for a parquet floor requiring in their words "extra" and "different machine". But the floor wasn't that. We told them to forget the parquet floor and cleaned it ourselves.
So, we paid "extra" according to their description of the job. They maintain that they always do the steps in the bid, so we did not pay anything extra.
Floor looks good, but we would not use them again unless we had much better description of what they were going to do and how much it would cost.
It was a good thing the people decided to delay moving or they would have been right in the middle of this job. They paid no attention to our time...if they were not going to be able to do it, why not just say so.

Response from MIDTOWN HARDWOOD
"Thank you for your feedback. The initial estimate was done on August 8th. We heard back from Mr. [removed member name] on Monday, August 25th requesting to move forward with the refinishing work as soon as possible as he had a potential renter for that property. They were trying to move in by Friday of that week. One of our crews was scheduled to finish up a job the following day. I told Mr. [removed member name] we could probably start Tuesday afternoon. That did not happen. We however, began the job the following morning, Wednesday, August 27th. We sanded the floors in one day and came back the following morning to apply the final coat of polyurethane. The floors would have been dry by Friday morning. While I did describe a refinishing process for parquet floors (my mistake thinking that all the floors were parquet in that house), we have a standard price for refinishing that amount of square footage, regardless of floor type. We charged Mr. [removed member name] the price that was presented on the bid. We apologize for any miscommunication regarding the description of our refinishing procedure in the bid. Although we were a half day behind in our schedule, the job was done in a timely way, and would have met the potential tenant's timeline if they would have decided to rent the property. At the time, Mr. [removed member name] was not in Memphis. His secretary was the contact person and can verify the timing. Mr. [removed member name] did in fact call us that week to tell us that his secretary said the floors looked great, so we are puzzled about the "C" rating on the floors themselves. Since Mr. [removed member name] lives out of town, I don't believe he has even seen the finished product. We strive as a company to meet the needs of our clients in every aspect of the job. Besides the miscue on the type of floor we were refinishing, we met all of our requirements to provide professional services on this job."

Bill came out to do an estimate; he clearly knows his old houses and treated us to some historical trivia about original layouts and features in the kitchen. He lifted up floor registers to see what might be underneath the existing vinyl tiles and said wood was probable, but obviously we couldn't know until we took everything up. An estimate was subsequently provided for a worst-case scenario--having to replace all of the flooring with new wood.
Work began a couple of days later, and the team was very efficient and professional. Original hardwoods were revealed, but an area towards the back of the kitchen was discovered to have been a single layer of pretty awful and decaying wood belonging to a formerly exterior deck. To make the whole kitchen level would have meant covering the original good hardwoods with a layer of new stuff, and things seemed to be heading in that direction until spoke with Bill and made a new plan to save the original wood and install a transition piece to the old deck area and re-floor it. This plan was agreed up very quickly.
The team also installed a transition between the old oak and pine boards that separated what had been the butler's pantry (said Bill) and the kitchen proper. The floors were then stained to best match the wood in the other rooms of the house.
The new-old (or old-new?) floors look excellent and we're extremely happy with them--the kitchen looks great. They did wonderful work.

Everything went as planned.  No surprises, and the dust containment actually works very well.   I have had floors refinished in the past, and dust was everywhere.  That was not the case with this job.  Both Bill (owner) and Carol (office manager) are exceptional.  I will definitely use them when needed.

They are just great!  Bill  Jackson is very knowledgeable as well personable.  He knows wood floors!  His crew was nice as well, , they were always right on time, and they left the house spotless.  It really helped that the house was empty, which saved a lot of time and expense.  Fumes were really not that bad.  Again, if you can vacate for a couple of days, it might be better if you're overly sensitive.  Bottom line:  I highly recommend them.

This review is long overdue, for which we apologized.  The company was outstanding.  I think it is worth noting that we did have a couple of glitches--a supplier was late in delivering materials, there were major weather problems (heavy rains, an ice storm), but these folks dealt with all in a really professional manner.  When we had one issue, we called, and they were at the house in no time.  Both Bill and Carol are consummate pros, and we recommend them without reservation.  The floors look fabulous, by the way!  We love them.
