"Read Angi reviews for Juan and adding another five star experience! He responded quickly to a request for a quote to trim and remove numerous trees dangerously close to our home, barns and garage. He is professional, personable and offered expert guidance. We are now repeat customers and have the utmost respect for his skills, quality of workmanship, attention to detail and genuine interest in providing excellent customer service. The quotes were very affordable and he is a businessman with integrity. Both experiences with Juan Tree Services have been wonderful and we recommend this business highly!"

"I requested a quote for removal of a large damaged tree that very close to my house. They responded very quickly. Quoted a more than fair price. Came a day later due to a heavy rain. Took the tree down. Cut it into lengths to be split for firewood upon request and cleaned remains up very well. I'm very pleased with the service, price. I would definitely recommend them for future jobs."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It could be anywhere from weeks to years for a dead tree to fall. A dead tree falls based on its weight, how it leans, the state of its roots, the state of decay, and what local windstorms are like, among other factors. Since it’s hard to predict the fall’s timing, it’s important to cut down a dead tree quickly and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.

DIY is risky and not recommended for large trees; professional services ensure safe removal and proper disposal.

You can never truly stop a maple tree from growing taller, but you can rein in its growth by pruning. Proper pruning helps maintain a safe size for your tree without causing permanent damage. It’s important to start pruning a tree while it’s young, long before it becomes a problem. Otherwise, you may be left with too many hazardous branches to remove at once.

You may be looking to identify maple trees to use for home improvement projects. In that case, you can tell hard maples by looking at their leaves. Leaves will have a U-shaped dip, or sinus, between the points, or lobes, of the leaves. Leaves of soft maples tend to have V-shaped sinuses.

If you already have the cut wood in front of you, look for a light, uniform color to identify hard maple wood and check for variations of red, gray, or brown streaks and an overall darker color in soft maple wood.
