"I knew there were some major problems with the HVAC ductwork in the attic of my 1960's home.  Another vendor suggested I replace the entire HVAC system.  I called Air Essentials, who examined the ductwork and told me that some of the runs were not sized correctly, other sections were disintegrating and that the entire ductwork network needed to be replaced, but that the unit itself still seems to have quite a bit of life remaining.
We agreed on a price and they showed up promptly when they said they would, worked all day (only taking a few minutes to eat a brown bag lunch), hauled off all the old junk out of the attic, caulked and reattached all the registers.  They promised they wouldn't leave until they finished, and they were true to their word.  It was a miserably hot day, and the work ethic of the two technicians who did the work was outstanding. The results have proven to be dramatic.  My utility bills have run 20-30% less since the work has been done, and my home is far more comfortable than it has been in years.
I am very pleased with their work!

"They were extremely professional, estimating the costs through Costco and through them. Costco was cheaper. The install went smoothly, and the work to mate the air unit to the existing ductwork was top notch."

"Paul Babchuk arrived on July 29, 2023 when the heat index was up to 100°. Heâ s a thorough professional and solved my problem within a half hour. Iâ m very grateful for his work ethic & knowledge. He replaced a faulty part & discovered the inside unit was working too hard because of a dirty filter. I wonâ t hesitate to call him if and when I need hvac service again. He also replaced our dumb thermostat with a Honeywell easy to see & use smart thermostat."

"They did an excellent job. They arrived at my house very quickly after I sent the request, which I really appreciated. My air conditioning wasn?t cooling, and although I?m not sure what the issue was, they diagnosed and fixed it incredibly fast. On top of that, the price was very reasonable. I?m very happy with the service and would definitely recommend them."

"Barkley Heating and Air Conditioning did an outstanding job with the installation of our new American Standard HVAC system. We purchased the unit from them at a very competitive price and we could not have experienced any higher professional manner in which Logan Barkley and his associates (Aaron and Derrick) provided us. From the time of the assessment of our needs until the unit was installed the service was outstanding! They were very impressive from the beginning of the project until the completion. They were prompt, courteous, and very respective. If it were possible to give them a rating of above 5 Stars, I would have given that rating to them! Any future HVAC needs we have will be provided by this company. We highly recommend them for anyone needing an HVAC system."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

High humidity, bad insulation, warmth from sunlight, and poor circulation are all reasons your home’s hotter inside than out. While this is what you want in the colder months, summer can become unbearable if this is a constant. Try to find the cause, but you need to remember that issues like this require a permanent fix (unless you want to bear down during the summer months).

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.

Keeping your air filter clean is crucial for your heat pump's efficiency. As a general rule, you should check your air filter every 1 to 3 months. However, the actual frequency might vary depending on factors like the type of filter, indoor air quality, and the amount of dust and debris in your area. If you notice the filter is visibly dirty or clogged, it's a clear sign it needs attention sooner. Regular filter maintenance ensures proper airflow and helps your heat pump perform optimally, keeping your indoor air fresh and comfortable.

After a while, dust, dirt, and other debris accumulates on an AC unit's coils and filters, making it less efficient and spreading allergens and other air pollutants throughout your home. Cleaning your AC unit will keep it running efficiently, minimizing future breakdowns and improving your indoor air quality.

The time it takes for an air conditioner to dry fully after cleaning depends on the unit's size and humidity levels. Most units will dry within two to four hours after cleaning, but check the manufacturer's recommendations for drying times. Make sure to leave the unit off until it's completely dry.
