"Maurice was a delight. I am currently pregnant and my husband works 12 hour shifts so we had some projects that we needed done before baby arrives and we simply did not have the time. Maurice came in and painted two of our bedrooms, fixed a leaking faucet, replaced and repaired drywall. He was finished in no time, we couldn t believe it. When used correctly, drywall patch kits can work well. However, there are limitations. Specifically, these kits can only cover holes up to 5 inches in diameter. For anything larger than that, you’ll need to cut out the affected section of drywall and replace it with a new piece. That’s a far more complicated process that involves buying the right type of drywall, finding the wall studs, cutting into your wall, and screwing the replacement drywall in place.

You can technically just paint over hairline cracks in plaster since these cracks are often harmless, but this will mostly be a waste of paint. Paint will only hide the hairline crack for a few months before it shows up again. The best solution is to repair the crack with flexible filler or joint compound before repainting.

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.
