"They are very thorough and are a prime example of professionalism. They weren't all day about getting to me, doing the initial site survey, scheduling and getting the work done. Hunter explained how the company works, was extensive in his survey of the property, and explained in great detail what needed done, showing me an abundance of photos that he took while under the house, as he explained what needed to be done. Also, he explained it in terms that I, not being an engineer or general contractor could understand. There are other things that still need to be done, i.e. drainage update, encapsulation, and mold mitigation. When we're in a position to take care of those projects, we will bring AFS back to do those. And I highly recommend them for any of your foundation needs."

"Great company! Fantastic crew! Good morals! Impressive work ethic! Very clean, efficient, and timely! Had some cracking in my bicks and I was concerned none the less. I called 4 different foundation repair companies and I was immediately sold on Apex! There not the cheapest but to my personal experience they are absolutely the best. They told everything I needed to expect on the front end. And much to my surprise they fixed my foundation and bricks in less than a day. Then after all is said and done they have lifetime warranty?s on everything they do! If your having issues with your foundation, look no farther than Apex Foundation Specialist!!!"

"This was a very extensive project that I spent months researching, hired an engineer for his professional guidance, and accepted bids from four companies. Two of the other companies were cheaper but proposed to use synthetic foam materials, which don't have a long enough track record for my comfort. Once the job started, the crews worked with great diligence, and despite the numerous difficulties they encountered, I never heard a single complaint. Total work time was 14 days over a three-week period that include Independence Day. Total cost was about $40k"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Handbuilt masonry fireplaces are likely what comes to mind when we think about curling up by the fire at the end of the day. But bricks in the firebox and chimney tend to be heavy, which is not ideal for homes with weak or damaged foundations.

Prefabricated fireboxes come with a full flue and chimney system, significantly reducing the price and installation time. However, if you need to replace the panels down the line, you are locked into the same model or something very similar.

According to the Earthquake Country Alliance—a public and private alliance in California that works to improve earthquake and tsunami readiness—reports that unreinforced masonry, such as stone, bricks, and hollow clay tiles, is more susceptible to earthquake damage. The mortar between bricks isn’t as stable as other building materials and methods.

The best way to clean creosote from brick is to hire a professional chimney sweep. However, you can use a creosote log to remove excess buildup between cleanings. You can also clean minor creosote buildup using dish soap or vinegar mixed with water.

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.

Yes, as long as the cut is clean and the brick remains structurally sound, you can reuse it. Reusing brick is especially common for landscaping, edging, and small masonry repairs. Just make sure to file down any sharp edges before handling or installing it.
