Repair of leaking basement wall. Had called Scott to see if he could give me an estimate of what it would cost and to see if we could set a time up this summer to repair the basement wall.  He came out and told us he and his crew could do it now.  I did not realize that this could be done in the winter time.  Started work on March 3, 2014  and completed on March 11, 2014.  Scott's crew came ready to work and worked hard every day. Would recommend them and would also have them return if any more work needs to be done. Very professional and friendly.

"Our original project included prepping new lake property by clearing trees, excavating, leveling and building a pad for our RV. They also were able to accommodate our additional request to build a path down to the lake. We were very happy with the results. We for sure would use them again!"

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Some basement waterproofing methods can actually cause your water or moisture problems to get worse, which is why it’s so important to call in a professional who knows how to solve your underlying issue and use the appropriate waterproofing methods. An example of this would be applying latex waterproofing paint to the insides of your basement walls without fixing the water issue outside. Doing so can trap moisture in the basement walls, which can promote mold growth, peeling paint, and even damaged concrete. However, when done by a professional, the only downside to basement waterproofing is the up-front cost.

A sewage smell in your crawl space is usually from a damaged or clogged pipe leaking sewer gasses or actual sewage underneath your home, but there are some other common causes. Moisture, from poor or damaged encapsulation or a malfunctioning sump pump, can harbor mold and bacteria, causing a musty smell. Pests can also get stuck in your crawl space and die, which causes a sewage-like odor.

Yes, you can finish a basement that leaks, as long as you address the leak first. Before finishing a basement, you’ll need to repair any cracks in the walls and waterproof the basement to prevent future leaks. It’s much harder to clean up a water leak from a finished basement than an unfinished one, so preemptively addressing any leaking areas prevents expensive repairs in the future.

The least expensive basement waterproofing methods include grading soil away from your home, installing downspout extenders on your gutter system, and applying a waterproof paint on the interior of the foundation walls. Installing a French drain is a relatively inexpensive method if you do the work yourself, although it’s labor-intensive and can be challenging to install properly.
