"It went very well, Josh keeps the work area tidy and makes every attempt to keep the construction mess from intruding into the rest of the living area. He had to replace sheetrock on a 10 x 12 ft area, after taping, mudding and texturing, the wall is perfect. The platform under the washer/dryer is large and sturdy, with nicely spaced steps.

In most states, handypeople do not need to be licensed to perform simple home repair tasks and smaller jobs. When projects exceed specific cost amounts, however, ranging from $500 in California to $50,000 in other states, some municipalities consider them to be contractors, meaning they need to be licensed. To learn if your handyperson should be licensed to work on your job, contact your local governing body or state contractors’ licensing board before starting any work.

Discuss design preferences and material choices before work begins for cohesive results.

Yes, you can use a dremel tool to cut plexiglass. Follow the instructions under “How to Cut Plexiglass with a Saw,” and use a dremel tool with a 561 bit instead of a saw.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).
