"This was a great experience! I have had cleaners before. Always courteous, but this time I felt my dirt was the focus of getting clean. Ernesto (?) was friendly, went right to work, observed the corners of the house, and when done he asked if things looked ok to us. And we have a lot of carpet."

"The Alta Gama ladies were at my house for 8 hours and did an excellent job! They were able to thoroughly clean my large glass shower doors which is difficult due to years of buildup from our well water. They also cleaned every surface that I asked them to clean. My house looks great! I definitely would hire them again."

"100% pleased with Moore! My 14 year old gas furnace (present when I bought the house) was blowing CO so it was shut down. I called Moore for a bid based on the positive Angie's List reviews. Tom came out and spent quite a bit of time here, calculating the size requirements based on my home, and explaining the different types of furnaces I could buy, and the pros and cons of each. As it turns out, the 100,000 BTU furnace I had was too big for my 1,200 sq ft home. Tom recommended a 70,000 BTU unit, with variable speed blower, A basic, one speed unit would have been about $1,000 less but I decided to go with the variable speed Lennox. Tom also informed me that the existing return air venting was insufficient for the old unit, and would not be sufficient for the new one. Tom was very patient, answering all of my questions. As a 50 year old woman who doesn't know much about furnaces, this was a big deal to me. I hope Moore realizes what a valuable employee they have in Tom. They were able to schedule the install for two days later, even though they were booked 2+ weeks out (they reserve earlier spots for people with no heat). Tony did the install, and once again, I was very impressed. He was also very patient and answered all of my questions... and I had a lot throughout the day. I had been concerned about who they'd send to do the install, because you can buy the best furnace out there, but if it's not installed right, you've got problems. Do you want problems with your furnace for the next 15 years? I don't. Tony has 40 years of HVAC experience - and knows what he is doing. Another example of a great Moore employee. Last but not least - the ladies that handle their phones were also very personable, and helpful. A few people have commented that Moore's prices could be lower, but I fully believe you get what you pay for. I was pleased with the price I was charged, based on the excellent service I received. It's worth noting - the HVAC company I have used for years for maintenance, submitted a bid for a basic unit WITHOUT even coming out to my house, or discussing it with me over the phone. I replied to the email asking for a price for a variable speed unit - and never heard from them again. And it wasn't a small 2nd rate company either - it's one of the bigger ones (also on Angie's List). Had I gone with them, I am sure my return air issue would have not been addressed, which would have shortened the lifespan of the new furnace. I have not one complaint about this company. Needless to say, i will be using them from now on for annual maintenance, too!"

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, basic dusting of doors, door hardware, and door glass is usually included when you hire a house cleaner to clean your home. A house cleaner may also vacuum door frames or clean tracks in sliding doors if these tasks are requested. However, house cleaners generally will not touch up scuffs or other markings on doors. Consider hiring someone who repairs doors to handle these issues for you instead.

If you avoid deep cleaning, it can lead to a slew of issues for your health and home. Mold and mildew can grow in damp areas of the home, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms, which can cause allergic reactions and even structural damage to your house. A buildup of grime and dirt can allow bacteria and germs to thrive. A dirty home can also attract pests such as cockroaches, ants, and rodents.

It usually takes around one hour for one person to deep clean a 100 to 200 square foot space, or between eight and 12 hours for a full home. Large construction projects may take longer, especially if your contractor didn’t do routine cleanups throughout the construction process. Your cleaning professional should be able to give you an estimate on how long they believe the job will take.

These hardworking scrubbers should be replaced every six months. Most toilet brushes have nylon bristles, and over time, these bristles can bend, fray, or fall out, reducing the effectiveness of the brush. Silicone brushes hold their shape longer, but the softer bristles are less effective at removing residue and build-up. To clean your toilet brush after use, spray it with a disinfecting cleaner and let it air dry by closing the handle under the toilet seat and letting the brush head drip into the toilet bowl.

As a general rule of thumb, avoid handwashing dishes whenever possible—especially if you have a full sink. Using a dishwasher saves water and better sanitizes your dishes. However, if you have delicate dishwear, high-end glassware, or fragile plastics, you should opt to handwash it to avoid cracks, chips, or warping from the high heat of a dishwasher.
