"We contacted Jim Sullivan at Energy Savers after receiving a reliable recommendation from our favorite general contractor, Jeff Chyko. Energy Savers did not disappoint!! Matt and Dave first came to inspect and provide an estimate. They were very thoughtful in taking off their shoes on that rainy day, and they also wore face masks in the house (thank you). They were thorough and professional, and also personable. We quickly received the estimate from Jim and were pleasantly surprised by how reasonable it was! We were able to schedule the appointment for about four days later. Matt and Dave returned with their equipment, and did an amazing and thorough job. They hung plastic sheets from the attic access down to the floor to control any dust that could come down from the attic. They blew in fiberglass insulation after doing some repair work and rearranging existing batting in the attic. They also vacuumed up afterward! Now this is the test: We heat with wood. Yesterday we decided to let the wood stove burn out in the afternoon and go cold so we could see how much heat the house would lose overnight. When we went to bed at 10:00 p.m. it was 73 degrees in the house. When we woke up at 7:00 a.m. the next morning, it was 70 degrees!! We are so thrilled with Energy Savers, Jim, Matt and Dave. We would highly recommend them to anyone who would like to add some additional insulation and warmth (and reduce heat loss!) in their homes."

"After calling about half a dozen of other companies where no one would come out, I called 911 Plumbing after a recommendation on Facebook. I called Dylan and he was over here within an hour. He worked from 9:30 PM until 2 in the morning. His rates were great and he's really knowledgeable. I was so impressed. On a rate of 1-10, I'd give him an 11. I'm going to have him back for any regular plumbing work as well as emergency work and will refer him to all of my friends. His type of concierge service is unlike anyone else in the business."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

If the outside temperature drops below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, it will take around six hours for your pipes to freeze—and they might even burst. That’s why keeping your mobile home’s temperature around 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit is necessary, even if you’re leaving it vacant for the winter. In addition, having ample skirting around the mobile home's underbelly will help keep pipes insulated during the winter.

Yes, many professionals offer insulation options, such as insulated siding (including insulated metal siding), to improve your home's energy efficiency.

If you have access to the foundation walls, adding spray foam insulation to your existing unfinished basement or crawl space is straightforward. Replacing existing insulation in your unfinished attic space is possible after removing the old insulation. However, spray foam insulating an existing wall after the drywall is in place isn’t possible unless you remove most of the drywall.

Ductwork sweats due to a temperature difference between the air inside the ducts and the surrounding air, similar to how a cold drink develops condensation in the heat. This sweating is a sign that your HVAC system is not operating at peak efficiency. The best way to keep ductwork from sweating is to wrap it in proper insulation, which also improves your system's energy efficiency. Another option is to close off your crawl space and install a dehumidifier to dry the air and lower its dew point.

Minimal, mainly occasional checks for damage or mold in extreme conditions.
