2 EMPLOYEES. NO SUBS. CHARGES ARE DETERMINED BY THE JOB. CHARGE OF $35 APPLIES FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES. ASK ABOUT ANGIE'S LIST DISCOUNT.

"We had already watched many You Tube repairs and Google searches for a common problem with our 3.5 year old $2500 Frigidaire Gallery unit. It is known to have icemaker problems and it was our turn for NO ice. We did call around for a repair company estimates, from a few locals. We had also replaced the icemaker unit ourselves. We spoke on the phone with the repair guy and since we could see ice inside the refrigerator, he recommended a total defrost of an empty unit, with doors open for 24 hours. We did this and still no ice. He then sent a repairman who did a diagnostic and reset. The next day we still had no ice. The owner came next and did all of the diagnostic and reset to include calling Frigidaire to ensure he was using the proper sequence. He did everything he could think of from top down. We are out of warranty and Frigidaire (Electrolux) happily reminds us of this. The Repair Guy was clearly communicating, thorough and handling many calls / texts and made no promises. We did not get ice. He adjusted the service cost and told us of our choices. We would happily recommend him and call him again. Greta experience! Thank You."

"American Home Shield (AHS) warranty is replacing my broken microwave with a new one. I received the new microwave on 11/11/2020 and notified AHS it was in my possession. Part of the warranty contract includes the installation of the new microwave. AHS typically assigns contractors themselves. However, this time AHS contracted with C & R Services with a dispatch number on 11/13/2020 for C & R to assign a local contractor to do the install. After two weeks of waiting and not being contacted by C & R or a contractor, I called C & R to follow up on the status. They said it would be 1 to 2 weeks from the date they received the dispatch from AHS. I informed them it had been 2 weeks in which they replied that it would be another 2 weeks. As of today, 12/11/2020, 4 weeks from the date C & R received the dispatch, I have not been contacted by C & R or a contractor. C & R's lack of communication and customer service is absurd. AHS informed me that they do not have any authority over C & R."

"The tech met me there on 1 May 2020. He took the unit apart and could not specify exactly what was wrong. He said he believed it was the thermistor and asked me to order it. I did so and got it on 4 May 2020. I paid him a $60 service call fee at that time with the agreement he would come back to finish the repairs as soon as I got the part in. All I got after that were unanswered phone calls and text messages until he finally answered and said he would be back on 6 May when the part arrived. No show. Kept calling/texting. Finally answered but only gave excuses as to why he couldn't do it each day. Nothing but lame excuses and finally on 12 May he told me he didn't appreciate my criticism of his lack of response and was not coming back. He was just looking for an excuse to not come back. Suspect he was busy cheating someone else for even more money. He also does HVAC work. Warning- Do not use this company as they are liars and are UNRELIABLE . They will likely not finish what they start if they are busy elsewhere. I now have to try to get another appliance tech to come behind this company who left my dryer taken all apart. Worst appliance company ever."

The local chain was founded by owner Rob Nicholson after he left the U.S. Navy in 1988 and started a small appliance retail sales and service operation. The business quickly grew to include retail locations in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Portsmouth. In 2005 Nicholson opened the Laskin Road superstore in Virginia Beach with more than 40,000 square feet of space for sales and inventory. The new store was an immediate success and Nicholson began closing the smaller stores in order to focus on his proven superstore concept. The Chesapeake location opened in 2006 and followed in 2007 with Newport News, his largest store today with over 30,000 sq. ft. of appliances on display.

"They have been out 4 times in 9 months to repair freezer on a new refrigerator we got last dec, its broken AGAIN day after last repair, they REFUSE to replace with a new one and we have lost all our food 4 times, missed work and been without weeks before they suppodely fix. Now its thanksgiving, have a toddler and baby due in 3 days plus a death in family, no fridge/freezer or set date to send anybody out. Do not buy anything ftom east coast because they dont stand behind their stuff."

FAQs for small appliance repair projects in Virginia Beach, VA

A local small appliance repair company or technician is your best bet if you’re looking for someone to service a small appliance. Homeowners more often look for major appliance repair specialists, meaning the demand is higher, as is the number of companies that handle the repairs. If you’re looking to repair a toaster, microwave, blender, or other small appliance, you should hire a technician that specializes in small appliances.

The answer to repairing vs. replacing appliances depends on the type of appliance, the severity of the issue or damage, and the quality of it. If you’ve purchased a top-of-the-line small appliance, it’s almost always more cost-effective to repair it than to replace it. You should also consider the cost to repair it, though. If the repair cost is more than half the cost of a new version, lean toward purchasing a new one. Your small appliance technician could also help you decide by determining the expected remaining lifespan after the repair.

Small appliance repair costs average around $50 to $400, with costs ranging significantly based on the type of appliance, the extent of the damage, the issue, the appliance brand, and the availability of replacement parts. Generally speaking, you’ll pay less for repairs on very small appliances, like blenders and toasters, than you will for microwave repairs. We recommend consulting a small appliance repair technician for a quote before starting the project.

On average, it will take a professional repair technician around one hour to complete the necessary repairs on your small appliances. However, the process could take anywhere from 15 minutes to three hours, depending on the extent of the damage and the specific appliance. For example, removing a built-in microwave will usually take longer than fixing a countertop toaster, as accessing the unit takes more time. Some repair technicians will take the appliance to a shop for repair, but you should plan to be home for a few hours in case they work on-site.

Small appliances typically include microwaves, toasters, toaster ovens, food processors, blenders, mixers, slow cookers, air fryers, coffee makers, rice cookers, and any other appliance that can sit on your countertop. Major appliances include refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, cooktops, washers, and dryers. Some people may include HVAC equipment like condensers and air handlers in this category, too. Small appliances are more of a specialty, so there’s a good chance a typical appliance repair company won’t be able to service and repair small appliances.
