"Very professional and informative and communicated very well, they are Organized and they followed through. They did an outstanding job, they are detail-oriented and there wasn't a detail they did not consider and it shows. The finished work is beautiful, the only problem is now the rest of my room looks awful and we will need to update the rest of the room."

25 years of experience

Owner/operator in business for 12 years. I use helpers and occasionally sub contractors. I am a hands on contractor, therefor I prefer to be a part of every project. I carry general liability insurance ($1m/$2m), and offer 1 year craftsmanship warranties with all labor performed. Every project I work on is done with pride and quality. I have over 12 years hands on experience in construction, flooring, and customer service. I specialize in new contruction, remodels, fix and flips, insurance work (fire and floods), residential and retail applications. With hundreds of "underpriced" contractors in the state, I keep my prices competative, however, I am not the cheapest. One thing I guarantee is that you will definately get what you pay for. Free estimates and pricing is based on a per job basis.

Hardwood Flooring questions, answered by experts

Using too much soap or floor cleaner can leave your laminate floors looking dirty or cloudy after mopping. Only use a teaspoon of soap or cleaning solution in a gallon of water. Additionally, always be sure to sweep or vacuum laminate floors before mopping to ensure you pick up dried grit, hair, and dust that can be harder to catch with a wet mop.

The type of flooring you plan to install will determine if it goes in before or after the cabinets. It's okay to swap the order in many cases. However, hardwood floors, sheet materials, and tile often go down before the cabinets go in. Floating floors like laminate or luxury vinyl planking should go down after the cabinets are in place.

There are a few different types of finishes to choose from for the final step of the project.

Water-based polyurethane sealants emit fewer odors and fumes but dry quickly, which can pose a challenge when trying to get a smooth coat. Oil-based polyurethane sealants let out more odors and fumes into the air (it’s especially important to wear a respirator if you choose this type), but they take longer to dry, which can be more forgiving during the finishing step.

Some may prefer wood oil to polyurethane because rather than creating a layer, it becomes part of the wood. Wood oil takes longer to dry, and is less resistant to wear and tear; however, it creates a natural-looking result by enhancing the grain of the wood.

Yes. So-called “floating” cork floors can be installed over concrete subfloor, though a polyethylene vapor barrier is required. This type of installation is achieved using the glue-down tiles, which are trickier for a DIY approach, so consider calling a professional to help you if you’re planning to install your cork floor over concrete.

Uneven floors often signal structural issues in a home, so taking them seriously is vital. If you buy an older home with slightly uneven floors, check that your inspector thoroughly inspects the foundation to catch any potential issues early. And if you notice that your floors are becoming more uneven over time, call a pro to check your foundation ASAP.
