Trained then certified with 10 years of experience. We have done it all, such as restoring houses more than 100 years old, we have restored museum pieces, refinished and stained 2,500 sq. ft. decks, mastered indoor and outdoor work relevant to painting. We focus more on professionalism than any other company and always provide the finest work. We have an impressive track record with dozens of satisfied clients. Just ask for references!

"Mike and his crew performed painting of our full interior for our home outside of Riverton, this year we hired him to stain our cabin and paint the metal on our shop. They performed professionally and and did an excellent job with no problems, no errors! They fixed the runs and bad texture on our interior left by the previous "painters." We liked that Mike's crew wasn't inexperienced like we dealt with last time. Plus he was the only painter that answered the phone when we were calling for quotes. We've recommended to our friends and will use them again in the future!"

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Drywall can be better than plaster if you’re installing a new wall and want to keep costs low. It’s much cheaper than installing plaster and provides a smooth, uniform surface. Many homeowners simply paint over the drywall or add a texture like sand or orange peel. It’s also much easier to DIY than plaster, and if you need to change your layout, it’s much easier to remove.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.

Although their applications are very similar, no drywall compound and spackle are not the same thing. Spackle is a bit thicker and is used to patch holes as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. Joint compound shrinks a bit more and can be more temperamental to spread. However, one benefit is that you can use joint compound as spackle (for small jobs), but you can’t use spackle as joint compound.

It is possible to repair plaster yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Plaster repair is easy in theory but difficult in practice. Applying repair plaster is straightforward, but ensuring the area is prepped properly to receive the new plaster and ensuring that the finished product looks smooth and professional both demand experience. Plus, repairs are especially difficult if you have a textured ceiling or walls. Paying for professional plaster repair is worth the investment if you want your wall to look good as new.

Smaller is better when patching holes with spackle. Any holes wider than four to six inches in diameter tend to be too wide to repair with spackle alone. You'll likely want to patch bigger holes with a drywall panel.

Even holes measuring up to 6 inches may be challenging to fill with spackle alone. For best results, purchase a wall repair patch made from wire mesh. Cut the patch to fit over the hole, then use the spackle to hold it in place. Apply the spackle over the patch as you would for a smaller hole.
