I have hired them to build a 1200sqft decal as well as finish the basement in my basement to include framing, drywall, plumbing, and flooring. I have also hire them to completely renovate and add on to a rental home they are amazing

Yes, wainscoting is installed directly over drywall. However, ensure the drywall is in good shape since it will support the wainscoting. If the drywall has issues, such as holes, mold, or mildew, repair them before installing the wainscoting. Alternatively, you can install a plywood substrate before attaching the trim.

There is no way to cut drywall without making dust, but you can reduce the amount of dust and especially the dangerous airborne particles by using manual cutting tools. Using a utility knife to score and snap your drywall will minimize dust production, and a jab saw for cutting cutouts for boxes and fixtures will generate almost no airborne dust. Even if you use these methods, you should still wear a respirator and safety goggles to avoid damage to your lungs and eyes.

Drywall anchors aren’t necessary if there’s a stud behind the wall where you’ll be working. Studs are strong enough to support screws on their own, but they don’t run throughout the wall. If you’re doing a project that involves the entire wall and not just one part (like hanging a small painting or photo), odds are you’ll need drywall anchors at some point in the process.

While you can put new drywall over old drywall, it’s not always the best option. In some cases, drywalling over drywall can make it harder to find wires and pipes behind your walls and conceal more serious problems with your walls. It can also make the room smaller.
