They were very professional and courteous from the rep they sent to assess the situation to the very efficient appointment updates as to when they would start the job. The crew called ahead when they were on the way and arrived right on time and also finished the job on time. "I had a plumbing problem that needed immediate attention. After calling local plumbers to no avail, I went to Angie's list and called the first plumber on the list. He called back immediately and said he'd be there within the hour. He showed up when he said he would, politely introduced himself and his assistant, and went right to work. Not only did they resolve the blockage, they discovered the break in the pipe that caused the problem. These two guys worked like a well-oiled machine. They were focused, efficient, and professional; they explained everything they were doing; and they treated my 94-year-old mother like a queen! I'd hire these guys back in a minute! They are superb professionals!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Removing calcium and lime buildup will often fix a clogged faucet head. You can usually remove any buildup with distilled white vinegar or a combination of vinegar, dish soap, and baking soda. Sometimes, the problem is buildup on the aerator, in which case removing and cleaning that part should fix your water flow. However, the design of some aerators makes them difficult to clean. For those, replacing the aerator will get the faucet flowing well again.

It usually takes between 30 minutes and one hour to repair a leaky faucet, but if you hire a plumber, they’ll often charge for one hour minimum. However, this time period is entirely dependent on the type of repair you need. Some complex repairs can take several hours to complete.

Many parts of your plumbing system can fail, but clogged drains are one of the biggest plumbing problems you’ll likely encounter. From your kitchen sink, bathroom sink, or bathtub, there are plenty of opportunities for gunk, hair, food scraps, and more to get stuck in drains. When this happens, water will slowly drain, leading to standing water, bad odors, drain flies, and other issues.

Many homeowners can handle a minor clog themselves, but if you have a clog in your main line, you’re best off hiring a local plumber to get the drain back to its normal flow rate.

Vinegar is better for an AC drain line because it’s less corrosive and won’t damage the pipes. It’s also a safer and easier product to use. Bleach should not be used on your AC drain line because it can corrode your pipes and harm the evaporator coil in your air conditioner.

The normal water level in a toilet bowl is about halfway full. The water should sit above the P trap drain because this creates a seal and suction. When you flush the toilet, the suction keeps sewer gases from entering your house through your toilet. Anytime the water level is higher or lower than half full, you need to make adjustments or replace broken parts.
