"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

Yes, prehung doors include a door jamb. Prehung doors are sold as a single piece with the door frame already constructed, including the hinges. The only part missing is the trim, which you add after fastening the door. They are more expensive than slab doors but are quicker and easier to install. Prehung doors come in an array of sizes, so there’s likely an option to fit any doorway you need.

Depending on the type of French doors you choose, they may be more expensive than sliding doors. Generally speaking, a single in-swing or out-swing French door will cost less than a sliding door, as it contains fewer materials and is easier to install. However, sliding doors usually have a slightly lower price tag, especially when compared to the standard double in-swing or double out-swing French doors.

You should prime interior doors before painting for the best results. If you do paint directly on the wood, you could see some of the grain patterns show through the paint, in which case you’d need to apply additional coats. Priming the surface before painting will reduce the number of coats and can better cover the grain pattern for a clean, finished look.

Many doorways feature two door jambs. These are installed on both sides of a doorway to prevent the door from swinging too far. A bottom track also keeps the door more secure and properly anchored. In some cases, an interior barn door can hang solely from a top track without a bottom guide. If you do install a bottom track, it should be placed six to eight inches from the floor and be at least twice as wide as the door.
