"All work was done in a professional manner. The project was timely commenced and completed with no delay. The trees involved were over 100 years old and very big. The crew were experienced and properly trimmed out huge limbs without damage to the trees or the area around them."

"Due to the situation involved I spoke with several of the HomeAdvisor references and S and Z Handyman Services was the only company that would do it exactly how I wanted it done with exactly what chemicals I wanted it done with. Not much to ask for when all you want them to use is ammonia and bleach. A cleaning service is not about Fufu it's about cleaning and sterilizing. It's not about the smelly pretty products that make it smell and look clean but isn't really clean. I am a property manager and my units have to be perfect after each tenant moves out. If it is not perfect and I have to bring in a cleaning company I expect the job to be done exactly the way I want it done. We are talking about making sure there are no possible allergens and or sensitivities that could be transferred to the new tenant. So kudos to S & Z handyman service for doing exactly what they were hired to do and doing it perfectly!!!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

Lead exposure poses significant health risks, including neurological, developmental, and behavioral disorders, especially critical in young children and fetuses.

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.

Disposing of old paint, bleach, oil, and fertilizer should be handled by a company that specializes in this kind of waste. Many private junk removal companies do not dispose of these items. Because these materials are hazardous to the environment and dangerous to handle or dispose of improperly, you should confirm with your local municipality about places to take hazardous materials for safe disposal.

You may see specialty products for sale to remove lead dust, such as D-Lead surface wipes. But you do not need to buy a special cleaner just for lead dust. A regular all-purpose cleaner, like 409 or something similar, is sufficient for cleanup. Just make sure to follow the manufacturer's directions when using it and to dilute with water.
