"I had had a seamless metal roof installed as well as what ended up being a deck replacement instead of repair as well as bridge between decks. I was on a set budget due to getting a loan to cover costs and Wade was extremely helpful in helping me figure out to plans to fit what I could afford. He and their office manager Ashley were super friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. Two different crews came to my home, one for each project and both were friendly and polite! Issues had came up with both projects, that would have sent me way over budget but the owner Edgar talked to me about different options and when it came to keeping me on budget with the roof and when the deck was much worse than we thought had gone above and beyond to stay true to the contract and with helping with my budget and what I was needing/wanting. I would 100% choose them again and will be when time comes for more projects!"

It’s not normal for a chimney to leak even a little bit during heavy rain. A chimney in good condition will keep rain from seeping into the chimney or house, so if you notice a small leak during a rainstorm, it’s time to call a pro for inspection. There could be damage to the flashing, chimney crown, or flue liner.

The short answer is, yes, cedar shakes do last longer than asphalt shingles. But the long answer is, it depends on maintenance. Asphalt shingles last about 20 years, while cedar shingles typically last about 30 years with proper maintenance. If they are very well maintained and installed in an area with a mild, drier climate, they can last up to 50 years.

If you’re choosing between a roof overlay and a tear-off, opt for a tear-off and full roof replacement instead of a roof overlay if possible. The cost savings from an overlay can easily be eclipsed by repair costs, the effects of structural damage from the additional weight, and needing to replace your roof sooner than expected. A full replacement will last longer and is less likely to need damage repaired over time.

You shouldn’t put a new roof underlayment over an old one for a few reasons. Old felt must be removed in order to assess the condition of your roof decking, such as rotting wood or other structural issues. Also, if your roofer doesn't install a fresh layer of felt as is required by shingle manufacturers, your warranty may be voided. Finally, old underlayment removal is often included in the cost of roof repair or replacement, so there's no real benefit to leaving it on before installing a new layer.

Look for certified local roofing contractors with plenty of experience working with cedar. There are also several important roofing questions to ask before choosing a roofer, including whether they are licensed, bonded, and insured. Once you’ve rounded up a few good candidates, compare estimates and hire whoever gives you the best bang for your buck.
