"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"I hired them through Angi. Had trouble finding company on my own. They pulled carpet and put down new floor in two rooms. Had to wait couple of weeks- then they created a large tile surrounded shower. Jason brought samples of materials and made it super easy to plan. In only two weeks I had a shower in half of my storage room. Love it!! They were so easy to work with! And for less than I expected, I got my renovations completed!!"

"Mine was relatively small job . Added a 4' x 11' concrete to existing patio. HOWEVER, what's important to note is the expertise and quality of this contractor. Very easy to work with, he was receptive of minor changes that wee needed. I felt so confident in his skills that I hired him for two other small job while he was here. I highly recommend Mike for most any job."

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Upgrade Remodeling for a major bathroom renovation, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, their team demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and a commitment to excellence. Ryan, our sales representative, impressed us with his logical and convincing sales pitch. He saved us valuable time by eliminating the need for multiple vendor meetings. His thorough understanding of our needs and preferences made the decision easy. The installation process was seamless. Alex and his team did an outstanding job removing our old bathtub and installing a beautiful walk-in shower. Their attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the project. They were also incredibly respectful of our home, ensuring that the work area remained clean and unaffected. The finishing touches on our new shower were nothing short of perfection. "The project lead and workers were profesional and polite. Lack of communication at times left me feeling confused and frustrated as I waited on workers to arrive every now and then. The salesman pitched me a 2 to 5 day time to install. It ended up taking two weeks as the wrong parts came in and some were missing. Some things were leaking but they came out and fixed it after calling them. Shower up a day earlier, removed our tub, then asked where the building material was. Which hadnâ t been delivered to us yet. Didnâ t show up the next day, but the building material did at 7am. No forewarning. When they started working on the project they did quality work with what they had, but found out as they installed things that the company sent us the wrong shower head and no shelves for our shower storage. Had to wait for those parts to arrive. They arrived and were installed, but then they were leaking behind the wall, into the basement, and from the shower head. Workers came out and fixed it later, but it was a longer job than expected. While they were polite people, I did not feel I got the value and quality promised by the salesman. My expectations were high based on his promises and it ended up taking much longer than anticipated and they kept having to come back and fix things. Felt overpriced for the hassle."

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

Yes, plumbers can replace showers. In fact, you should hire a licensed plumber rather than a shower installer if your project involves adding fixtures or moving pipes. However, you don’t necessarily need a plumber for simpler projects, like installing a direct-to-studs shower kit. In that case, you can hire a shower installer, handyperson, or DIY it.

Shower arms come in a standard size with ½-inch NPT, but designs vary. The height of the water supply pipe and the showerhead height you want affect the type of shower arm you should choose. For example, a water outlet that’s located close to the ceiling would be suitable for a standard shower arm (small extension with a slight downward angle) or a straight arm model. Outlets situated lower in the shower allow for gooseneck shower arms, which can raise the showerhead's height.

A stall is a basic shower that's smaller than a walk-in shower. A stall usually only has room for one person to stand and turn around. Walk-in showers are often large enough to walk around in or fit more than one person. And thanks to their large size, walk-in showers often don't require a curtain or door to block stray water.

Showers can come in any size. Prefab shower pans are available in sizes ranging from 30 by 30 inches to 60 by 60 inches. The standard size of a small prefab shower or a corner shower is 32 by 32 inches, but an ADA-compliant shower should be at least 36 by 36 inches. Standard large prefabricated showers are typically 36 by 60 inches.

A professional ensures correct installation, avoiding leaks and water damage while guaranteeing compliance with local building codes.
