"I needed an estimate for gutters on a home my husband and I are in contract to buy. They were very quick to call to schedule an appointment. They were there the next day. As soon as the estimate was made, I received a phone call and quickly an emailed copy. I worked with a Gentleman named Brian Jones. He was professional, friendly and what impressed me the most, was that he was honest about the condition of the gutters and the options that we had. I would HIGHLY recommend this company."

"Mine was relatively small job . Added a 4' x 11' concrete to existing patio. HOWEVER, what's important to note is the expertise and quality of this contractor. Very easy to work with, he was receptive of minor changes that wee needed. I felt so confident in his skills that I hired him for two other small job while he was here. I highly recommend Mike for most any job."

"He came to the home to give an estimate. Was not pushy or insistent. Very thorough and honest. We decided to go with them. They were here on time and were extremely professional. Unit looks great and they even made the conduit /pipe match the house (white with the blocks and brick colored when it ran along the brick. Definitely recommend. Will contact them when it is time to replace the A/C."

"I did not use this contractor to do the job after all. Their estimate was very expensive and more than I wanted to spend at the time. However, I know they would have done a wonderful job. They were very friendly and professional. Would contact for future work.

"Crown Development did an amazing job with my basement renovations - they removed an existing wet bar, and reinstalled a new wet bar, cabinets, countertops, hardwood flooring, etc. I hired several contractors before coming in contact with this company, and none of them have compared to Crown Development. The quality, customer service, timeliness, and prices are unmatched."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Removing a load-bearing wall is best handled by professionals. However, if you have the skill set and decide to DIY the project, you will still need at least one additional person to assist you. Aside from helping with demolition, you'll need another hand to install the new support beam.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.
