"It went great. I highly recommend them. They were a pleasure to deal with. The person that came out for the estimate answered all of my questions. The estimate was fair. The work was done on schedule and with no problem. At completion, everything was explained to me. I used their electrician which worked out fine. After completion the radon test showed that my level was now undetectable."

"We hired PureTech to advise us on a real estate inspection that included a radon test. That test came back over the safety threshold. After meeting with Zach C, he advised us to make some repairs in the basement and to schedule a retest. We did and the results speak for themselves; the levels came back well into the safe zone. I couldn't be more pleased with the recommendations made by PureTech and Zach C specifically. Saved us a bundle in what could have been a nightmare, and now the sale of our home can proceed. Thank you PureTech!"

"Mike was extremely prompt in communicating with me. He was able to fit me into his schedule on very short notice. He is friendly, pleasant and well-spoken. He resolved my main issue, a leaking outside faucet, within minutes. He installed a Ring Doorbell for me and had time to troubleshoot a garage heater for me. He seems quite knowledgeable as a handyman and has experience in a large variety of disciplines. I will most certainly be contacting him again for a variety of odd jobs and perhaps for some bigger projects. I would highly recommend Mike and MJ Home Services to anyone looking for a skilled mechanic."

"Pick them if you want honesty and integrity. Jeff arrived on time, was honest, professional, and went above and beyond. As it turned out, the work we were told we needed by previous contractors wasn't necessary. Drain tile was already present and functioning in the area in question. Jeff was honest about this and didn't simply attempt to create unneeded and expensive work. He took it one step further and helped me better understand alternative corrective measures we could take. I'm very grateful and can't say enough good things about them."

"I used this company for my furnace/central air cleaning and they were very professional as well as for this job.  Mike arrived on scene and suggested some things to me and got the job done within an hour.  I will use them again in the future.

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the system and property layout.

The cost to replace a radon fan ranges from $300 to $600 for the fan itself, with installation adding an additional $200 to $500. Overall, the total cost for replacement can range from $500 to $1,100, depending on factors such as the fan model, home size, and local labor rates. If the fan is part of a larger radon mitigation system, the price may be higher.

Keeping radon from getting into your home is much better than having to get rid of it once it's already indoors. While there may not be a way to fully prevent radon from getting into your home, there are things you can do to reduce the gas's ability to enter.

Sealing foundation cracks and openings can help keep the gas from seeping inside. Improving air flow, such as by opening windows, can also be helpful. If you're building your home from scratch, talk to your contractor about using radon-resistant construction to keep the gas out.

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.

Mitigation reduces radon levels, protecting your health and complying with safety standards.
