"They were great. I recently opened my new suite and needed flooring that wouldn’t ruin the base boards and the carpet. They did just that. They finished in a day and some hours. Also I needed them pretty last minute and he came asap and started working on the floors. It looks amazing. Highly recommend."

"We did not use All About Floors, because we have not yet selected a flooring contractor, and are reluctant to use the recommended product.  The gentleman we spoke with was a co-owner, and was very nice, responsive, and knowledgeable.  We visited the show room, and he visited our home.  He was very generous with his time and advice.  He recommended the three main providers of luxury vinyl tile (LVT), but we have come to doubt the products based on information from people who had it installed.  (They did not have it installed by All About Floors.)  We have since discovered an improved LVT product from Shaw Floors, and may contact All About Floors again for an estimate of this product.

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.

  • The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.

  • Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.

If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.

The life span of carpet in a home with children and animals depends on factors like the carpet material’s quality, how frequently you clean and maintain it, and the level of foot traffic. On average, carpets need to be replaced every five to 15 years. Signs of wear, matting, or persistent odors may indicate that it's time to contact a local flooring company to replace your carpet.

If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.

Carpet tiles are less expensive than traditional carpet. The average cost of carpet installation is $1,800, or $3 to $11 per square foot. In comparison, carpet tiles cost $2.50 to $11 apiece and can often be bought in bulk cartons. Since you can more easily DIY carpet tiles, you may be able to save on installation costs, too.
