"The patio turned out great, custom ramp due to an uneven step to the attached driveway. Wish the cleanup following the project could have been handled better, posts from the old deck and tarp were left sitting in the yard. The project also ended up being completed a few days later than what was stated in the contract. Overall, happy with the service and would recommend again."

"I had a good experience with this business. Mark showed up on scheduled with crew. Got right to work and did a nice seal coat and crack filler on a driveway apron way overdue to have done."

Customers say: Quality work

"Kenny was very busy and hard to schedule an install, but well worth the wait. Once the job was scheduled, he showed up exactly the time he said, did a quality job and charged the price he quoted. We are very pleased with the job. It was fantastic. I only went by reviews I saw on this site. I did not have prior knowledge. so happy I went with him."

"S & S Painting & Restoration did a great job. Once we were scheduled They contacted us as to the start date & came out to pressure wash our roof, which they completed in one day.. when the weather was right, they came out to apply the primer & 2 top coats to our roof. They also completed it in one day. We have a large farmhouse with a 2 story metal roof with a few different pitches & levels of roof. They were very professional & meticulous in the spraying of the paint. I would recommend their services to anyone looking for a painting company. We have another couple of buildings that we will be scheduling for next spring. We are very satisfied with their work!"

"This company is wonderful! They return calls promptly and very knowledgeable and informative on snow removal. They did a wonderful job for the blizzard in 2015 and the snow storm in early 2016. Never have I had to worry about guests, the mailman, or any delivery people falling on my property, since they do such a good job! They come early in the morning so that I make it to work on time and the end of my driveway, which is usually the worst part, is always wonderful! I even saw them pull some weeds at the end of the driveway once they were done shoveling - that's how awesome this place is! They don't put regular salt down, it's a different kind of product and it works so well, any remaining snow is quickly melted and I never have to worry about ice. I will continue to use this company every year for my snow removal needs and won't even think about trying someone else!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

New asphalt goes through two stages: drying and curing. Drying typically takes 24 to 72 hours, after which the surface is solid enough for light use like walking or careful driving. While you may be able to park on it after 72 hours, the surface is still soft and should be treated gently. Full curing is a much longer process, taking anywhere from 30 days to a full year for the asphalt to reach maximum strength. During this extended curing period, the asphalt is susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles, sharp objects, and high temperatures. Factors like weather, the specific asphalt mix, and application thickness all influence drying and curing times. For the most accurate timeline and to ensure the longevity of your new asphalt, it is always best to consult with your installation contractor for their specific recommendations.

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property. A driveway with less than a 1% slope increases your likelihood of flooding and water damage, while a driveway with a 15% grade or higher can be too steep for safe traveling.

The three most common types of asphalt are hot asphalt, MC cold mix, and UPM asphalt. Hot asphalt is used most often for paving and patching roadways while it’s hot and workable. MC cold mix asphalt cures more slowly than hot asphalt, but it can be used for temporary patches and repairs in low-traffic areas. UPM is also used cold, but it can be used as a longer-term fix, usable in almost any conditions at almost any temperature.

Yes, recycled asphalt driveway costs can be substantially lower than new asphalt. With new asphalt costing between $90 and $190 per ton, this option can cost as much as 10 times more than laying down asphalt millings.

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.
