Customers say: Quality work

"Kenny was very busy and hard to schedule an install, but well worth the wait. Once the job was scheduled, he showed up exactly the time he said, did a quality job and charged the price he quoted. We are very pleased with the job. It was fantastic. I only went by reviews I saw on this site. I did not have prior knowledge. so happy I went with him."

"S & S Painting & Restoration did a great job. Once we were scheduled They contacted us as to the start date & came out to pressure wash our roof, which they completed in one day.. when the weather was right, they came out to apply the primer & 2 top coats to our roof. They also completed it in one day. We have a large farmhouse with a 2 story metal roof with a few different pitches & levels of roof. They were very professional & meticulous in the spraying of the paint. I would recommend their services to anyone looking for a painting company. We have another couple of buildings that we will be scheduling for next spring. We are very satisfied with their work!"

"This company is wonderful! They return calls promptly and very knowledgeable and informative on snow removal. They did a wonderful job for the blizzard in 2015 and the snow storm in early 2016. Never have I had to worry about guests, the mailman, or any delivery people falling on my property, since they do such a good job! They come early in the morning so that I make it to work on time and the end of my driveway, which is usually the worst part, is always wonderful! I even saw them pull some weeds at the end of the driveway once they were done shoveling - that's how awesome this place is! They don't put regular salt down, it's a different kind of product and it works so well, any remaining snow is quickly melted and I never have to worry about ice. I will continue to use this company every year for my snow removal needs and won't even think about trying someone else!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

There’s no single best asphalt grade—it all comes down to where and how it’s used. Highways and heavy-traffic roads need something tough, like polymer-modified asphalt (PMA) or Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA). Local roads and parking lots rely on the Performance Graded (PG) system, chosen based on climate. A PG 64-28 mix, for example, handles a broad temperature range while simpler, more cost-effective mixes are typically enough for residential driveways. The best grade of asphalt depends on traffic, weather, and your budget, which is why a professional’s input is always a smart move before making a decision.

A driveway approach is the part of a driveway where the public road meets the private driveway. This section contains several key elements, including the driveway apron, the curb cut, and the end slope. Depending on the slope of the driveway, this area may also contain the trench drain.

Chip seal layers gravel and a liquid bitumen one at a time on-site, while asphalt directly pours a pre-combined mixture. Asphalt must be sealed, but it will last up to four times as long as chip seal driveways. Aesthetically, chip seal has a natural, rustic look compared to the traditional asphalt slab.

A driveway's lifespan varies by material. Asphalt driveways typically last 15 to 30 years, while concrete driveways last longer, between 20 and 50 years. The longevity of any driveway is affected by factors like extreme temperatures, heavy traffic, and the quality of maintenance. Regular upkeep, such as filling cracks, resealing the surface, and ensuring proper drainage, can help extend its life. For gravel driveways, regrading to fill in uneven areas every year or two is recommended.

At a depth of two inches, a ton of asphalt covers around 80 to 100 square feet. However, the thicker the asphalt, the less surface area it will cover. That’s why measuring correctly is essential when estimating asphalt needs and costs to ensure you get enough material to cover your entire driveway, patio, or other asphalt surface.
