"Connected new attic fan, installed by roofer, in place in attic that was difficult to get to. Also very quickly diagnosed and fixed Casablanca fan in bedroom. Honest, ethical, knowledgable, time-efficient, motivated to do quality work. Much more cost effective than competitive contractors."

"He believes that frost during the winter was cause of the issue, and recommends that I simply insulate more where the moisture appeared (since there seems to be a lot of cold air coming in where we opened up the ceiling).  He believes that the roof is in good shape, and there's no cause for doing any expensive roof repairs at this time.
I appreciate the simple recommendation to start rather than suggesting expensive repairs.  I will definitely contact him if there does seem to be an actual roof leak.

"When Sparky's came here, they (and we) believed that the reason our elderly attic fan was turning on and off constantly was due to a faulty thermostat. They replaced the thermostat; but once the attic heated up, the fan still turned on and off in the same way. I called Sparky's , and they came right back. Jeff (aka Sparky) noticed that the fan motor was very hot and determined that it needed to be replaced. He got the same heavy-duty motor as the original equipment and replaced it in the fan the next day. Now it works like a dream, and we're happy with Sparky's service."

"There is no air conditioning on the first floor of the non-profit house for which I am Property Director.  With the donation of and installation of a window AC unit, it was suggested that a ceiling fan in the living room (where the AC unit was installed) would help circulate the cool air.  I had worked w/Horizon Electric previously for electrical repairs, but not for an installation requiring new wiring, etc.  The owner, Lee, met me at the house within a few days and almost immediately found a way to wire in a new ceiling fan in the living room.  With further discussion we decided a ceiling fan w/lights would also be worthwhile in the dining area.  In that case he had to extend wiring to this adjacent room and, again, came up with a solution.   He quoted me a price for the installation of the living room fan only and another for the installation of both fans.
With Board of Directors approval I was able to get back to him within the week and the following week both fans were installed. Even though Lee had told me that his workload was out 2-3 weeks, he understood the importance of getting these fans installed
and that was done in record time.  The House Manager reported to me that the workman finished the installation of the fans we provided in one day, as promised, and, even with the house residents present (including young children), left nothing lying about that could be hazardous to anyone, was efficient and cleaned up the work area thoroughly after he was done.
We were billed the amount quoted.
I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend it.

"Outstanding contractor and service.  Punctual, answers calls quickly, very personable and very organized.  Rich is a man of his word and goes the extra mile for you to ensure you're satisfied with the work you need done.
We recenty purchased an older 1,500+ sq ft.condominium whose previous owner was a heavy smoker.  We loved the layout of the place but the cigarette smoke smell was pretty offensive.  Rich and his team came highly recommended to us and made his team quickly available to meet our needs.  He thoroughly explained the cleaning process which included using appropriate chemicals for all surfaces & rooms to be cleaned.
Since we had already planned to change our flooring, we had Custom Craft Environmental remove & dispose all the old carpeting for us.
The cleaning process used conteracting chemicals to offset the pungence of the actual cleaning chemicals, much like alternating frequencies that result in white noise.  They even cleaned each set of window blinds.  His sub-contractor did a marvelous cleanout of all floor vents and ductwork.  Fan-powered oxiders in each major room over the space of a few days completed the work.
We now have a fresh-smelling environment in which to begin living in our new home.
We highly recommend Rich and his team from Custom Craft Environmental to anyone.

"We began demo at the beginning of December and concluded the kitchen at the beginning of January.  It was an impressive undertaking and we now have a kitchen that is the envy of the neighborhood!  Our basement was begun a month after and took another month.  My kids don't want to spend time anywhere else now.  John did the work of a crew and all at a price that made us hire him to help with our next remodel job.  Thanks for the great work, John!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.

Hiring an electrician to install a new ceiling fan may be the best course of action. Installing a ceiling fan requires basic electrical and mechanical knowledge. It also requires holding it up with one hand and in an awkward position, making the installation even more difficult. If you’re uncomfortable with these circumstances, your best bet is to hire a professional.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

Ceiling fans offer multiple benefits for your home. They improve air circulation to prevent stagnant environments and provide cost-effective temperature control, which can reduce reliance on your HVAC system and help lower utility bills. In addition to their functional advantages, ceiling fans can also enhance a room's aesthetic appeal with features like built-in lighting and modern styling.

Ceiling fans require periodic cleaning of blades to avoid dust accumulation, checking screws and connections for firmness, and occasional lubrication for components, keeping the fan running smoothly and quietly over time.
