"Connected new attic fan, installed by roofer, in place in attic that was difficult to get to. Also very quickly diagnosed and fixed Casablanca fan in bedroom. Honest, ethical, knowledgable, time-efficient, motivated to do quality work. Much more cost effective than competitive contractors."

"He believes that frost during the winter was cause of the issue, and recommends that I simply insulate more where the moisture appeared (since there seems to be a lot of cold air coming in where we opened up the ceiling).  He believes that the roof is in good shape, and there's no cause for doing any expensive roof repairs at this time.
I appreciate the simple recommendation to start rather than suggesting expensive repairs.  I will definitely contact him if there does seem to be an actual roof leak.

"When Sparky's came here, they (and we) believed that the reason our elderly attic fan was turning on and off constantly was due to a faulty thermostat. They replaced the thermostat; but once the attic heated up, the fan still turned on and off in the same way. I called Sparky's , and they came right back. Jeff (aka Sparky) noticed that the fan motor was very hot and determined that it needed to be replaced. He got the same heavy-duty motor as the original equipment and replaced it in the fan the next day. Now it works like a dream, and we're happy with Sparky's service."

"There is no air conditioning on the first floor of the non-profit house for which I am Property Director.  With the donation of and installation of a window AC unit, it was suggested that a ceiling fan in the living room (where the AC unit was installed) would help circulate the cool air.  I had worked w/Horizon Electric previously for electrical repairs, but not for an installation requiring new wiring, etc.  The owner, Lee, met me at the house within a few days and almost immediately found a way to wire in a new ceiling fan in the living room.  With further discussion we decided a ceiling fan w/lights would also be worthwhile in the dining area.  In that case he had to extend wiring to this adjacent room and, again, came up with a solution.   He quoted me a price for the installation of the living room fan only and another for the installation of both fans.
With Board of Directors approval I was able to get back to him within the week and the following week both fans were installed. Even though Lee had told me that his workload was out 2-3 weeks, he understood the importance of getting these fans installed
and that was done in record time.  The House Manager reported to me that the workman finished the installation of the fans we provided in one day, as promised, and, even with the house residents present (including young children), left nothing lying about that could be hazardous to anyone, was efficient and cleaned up the work area thoroughly after he was done.
We were billed the amount quoted.
I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend it.

"Outstanding contractor and service.  Punctual, answers calls quickly, very personable and very organized.  Rich is a man of his word and goes the extra mile for you to ensure you're satisfied with the work you need done.
We recenty purchased an older 1,500+ sq ft.condominium whose previous owner was a heavy smoker.  We loved the layout of the place but the cigarette smoke smell was pretty offensive.  Rich and his team came highly recommended to us and made his team quickly available to meet our needs.  He thoroughly explained the cleaning process which included using appropriate chemicals for all surfaces & rooms to be cleaned.
Since we had already planned to change our flooring, we had Custom Craft Environmental remove & dispose all the old carpeting for us.
The cleaning process used conteracting chemicals to offset the pungence of the actual cleaning chemicals, much like alternating frequencies that result in white noise.  They even cleaned each set of window blinds.  His sub-contractor did a marvelous cleanout of all floor vents and ductwork.  Fan-powered oxiders in each major room over the space of a few days completed the work.
We now have a fresh-smelling environment in which to begin living in our new home.
We highly recommend Rich and his team from Custom Craft Environmental to anyone.

"We began demo at the beginning of December and concluded the kitchen at the beginning of January.  It was an impressive undertaking and we now have a kitchen that is the envy of the neighborhood!  Our basement was begun a month after and took another month.  My kids don't want to spend time anywhere else now.  John did the work of a crew and all at a price that made us hire him to help with our next remodel job.  Thanks for the great work, John!"

"I can't say enough how happy we are with the work Bryan and his crew did on our house. Before they started the project, they worked out a schedule that would work with my schedule, so I barely saw them unless I came home early from work. They worked four days a week, ten hours a day on our project, every week. Not only did they work hard and delivery very professional results, they went above and beyond to make sure I wasn't inconvenienced during a complete floor-to-ceiling remodel. Every day when they left, they packed up all their tools, swept and mopped my floors, and covered any unfinished areas with plastic. They also went out of their way to make sure my two-year-old was safe during the remodel (covering any temporary holes in the floor every night, covering exposed electrical outlets and wiring every night, etc). Not only did they made things safe and clean during the remodel, they installed a temporary sink and counter in the kitchen so I could at least wash dishes and prepare food while the kitchen was being built. They also went out of their way to be at my house when appliances were delivered, so I didn't have to leave work to come home and wait for a refrigerator to be delivered. As far as the results, I can't say enough about how good my house looks. Every project they took on (and there were a lot of them!) was completed in time and finished so professionally you would think the remodel was original to the house. The cabinets and drawers are of very high quality and installed and finished beautifully. I had glass installed in several doors as well as cabinets, and it looks wonderful. In particular, the paint and drywall in the house is so professionally finished it looks better than the original drywall in the house! I should also mention that Bryan installed an antique built-in cabinet in the dining room with an arched ceiling above it and an antique pendant light hanging above it. He did such a good job, nobody can believe it's not original to the house. More importantly than anything else, Bryan worked with us every step of the way to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted in the house. We have an old house and wanted to remain true to the original feel of it, and he communicated with us constantly about even the smallest decision. That said, if we had wanted him to simply do the work without consulting with us, he would have done that, too, and done it well. My feeling was that he could work very independently if you want him to, but is also willing to consult with you every step of the way if you want that, too. To sum it up, if I ever have work done in my house again, Bryan will be the first (and probably the only) person I call."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are many types of ceiling fans, from self-automated smart ceiling fans to outdoor ceiling fans that provide additional comfort to your patio. What you choose all comes down to function and personal taste.

Consider your ceiling height when selecting a ceiling fan. Rooms with ceilings under eight feet high will do well with low-profile ceiling fans, also known as flush-mount or hugger ceiling fans. If your home has cathedral ceilings or ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, you’ll need a large ceiling fan with a heavy-duty motor to get adequate air circulation.

Installing a ceiling fan where no wiring exists is a difficult and potentially dangerous job that should not be attempted as a DIY project. It is recommended to hire a certified electrician to build the necessary electrical infrastructure. In some areas, building codes require this work to be done by a professional to ensure safety and compliance. Due to the complexity, this type of installation is a significant job that could cost up to $2,000.

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.

Essential tools for ceiling fan installation include a ladder, screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers, and a circuit tester. If the ceiling is angled or features unique configurations, ensure the availability of a compatible mounting bracket.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.
