"Christian was very professional from start to finish and was also very patient with all my questions and concerns. They had the best price and seemed the most honest of all the companies that came by for a quote. They were also able to work us into their schedule sooner. When getting a massive project like this done, there will always be some issues here and there, but these guys were quick to remedy any issues that I had, which I appreciated."

"Very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge by Brian Leffler who did the initial estimate and drain tile test; by the office personnel to include Natasha who kept me updated on date and times for the work to be done; to the crew who were very efficient, great workmanship and respectful of the property and finished as scheduled."

"First, Bob Reber took the time to explain all aspects of what is causing the mold in our crawl space. His explanation was consistent with the mold testing specialist/microbiologist we hired. The options for turning our crawl space into a mini basement were in-line with what our microbiologist said. The installation team was great to work with. They were very knowledgeable, professional, and respectful of our property. They cleaned up all the post project debris too. We’re very happy with our fully enclosed crawl space that doubles as lock-and-key storage. We highly recommend the entire Basement Repair Specialists team."

"It was great - they were quick and thorough. They even found a bit of flashing that was loose and repaired it.
Followed up with an estimate to replace our roof.
We would definitely use them in the future - I had my eyes out for the same deal from them this year!!

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

The proper way to install a window well is to measure the window, dig a hole deeper and wider than the window, place a drainage tube and cap, anchor the well to the foundation, caulk the seam, and backfill the hole. The job requires tools such as a hammer drill and auger and some heavy digging. Proper placement and window well installation are critical to preventing water from leaking into the window.

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

Yes, you can always make an existing window bigger, but the job complexity varies widely depending on the location of the window and the framing around it. Exterior walls are always load-bearing, so making windows wider will require structural changes that make for a more complex but doable project. Making windows taller often won’t require structural changes.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

When you need new windows depends on a variety of factors, including the age of your windows, the age of your home, and the climate you live in. If you’re dealing with budget constraints, you don’t need to replace all your windows simultaneously.

When buying new windows, you should consider energy efficiency, safety, and aesthetics to choose the right window for you.
