"Very pleased with our new air conditioner installation. The salesman was very nice and explained everything to my satisfaction. The installers were efficient and knowledgeable as well. They showed up exactly on time and were finished earlier than I expected. Work areas were cleaned up, inside and out. Not even any metal shavings in the grass where the new ducting was cut. One of the nice gentlemen even explained the new thermostat they installed. I highly recommend Southport Home Services."

"A Better Way Heating & A/C - Review Matt made the situation almost a pleasure to deal with. Per my phone call, we met @ 8:00 am the day after next, at my convenience. He showed as scheduled, quoted me a price & completed the work by 10:00 am. (2 hours later) TOTAL SATISFACTION (No pressure) I deal with contractors more than the average. I am a retired building inspector & own several investment properties."

"Great company! We contacted them on a Monday evening and they were at my house by 2 pm the following afternoon, we really appreciated the quick response. The technicians sent to our home were very professional and took care to not damage our property when removing our old water heater, as well as when they installed the replacement. The cost of the job was reasonable and completely fair."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Yes, most municipalities require a permit for propane boiler installation to ensure safety and code compliance. Permit fees vary by location and are often included in your installer’s quote, as they’ll handle the permitting process. Ensure that you always check local regulations before starting your project to avoid fines or delays.

Warmed or cooled air can escape your home through drafty windows and doors. If you notice any gaps, be sure to caulk and seal them. You can also hire a local pro for an energy audit to get a list of energy-saving recommendations.

Finally, check your insulation. It can settle in over time and become less effective. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that you can save an average of 15% on heating and cooling costs (or 11% of total energy costs) by sealing leaks and making sure attics, crawl spaces, and basements have a nice layer of insulation.

Some high-quality steam boilers come with 10-year warranties, but a well-installed, properly maintained model can last at least 20 to 25 years. Learning how to clean a boiler, getting an annual professional service, and keeping up with maintenance and repairs on your heating system are all important for getting the most out of your model.

The primary differences between a heat pump and a boiler are their function and how they produce heat. A heat pump is a versatile system that provides both heating and cooling by moving ambient air and altering its temperature. In contrast, a boiler is solely a heating system, often working with a furnace or AC unit as part of a larger HVAC system. In terms of heat production, a heat pump generates heat more slowly and at a lower temperature, requiring a large convector for distribution. A boiler, however, produces a large amount of high-temperature heat that it emits through smaller radiators.

The cost to install a steam boiler varies depending on the type, fuel used, and your house size. The average cost to install a boiler is $5,900. You could spend $2,000 for a basic electrical steam boiler or up to $9,000 for a high-efficiency oil-burning steam boiler. Boiler installation is a job that’s best left for professionals to complete, and, in some states, only licensed installers can legally complete the job.
