"In 2017, when I was looking to purchase a house in the Rockford area that was needing a full siding install I contacted GF Company in Belvidere. IL, who I found on Angie’s list and at that time GF Co had great reviews. Strangely enough these great reviews are no longer to be found on Angie’s List. It should also be noted there is a GF Siding in Cherry Valley. IL, this is Not the company that I did business with. Ariel Zmijewski (the owner) got me a quote quickly and I decided to purchase the house. A few months later in July 2017, I contacted Ariel again to discuss the finer points of the quote, the price was revised slightly and the Ariel mentioned that once a deposit was paid work could start 6-8 weeks later, but said the install would be finished before the cold weather arrived. I started creating a color layout and Ariel provided some feedback on what would work and not work. To this point I was very happy with progress. In September 2017 I paid a deposit of over $8k (about 44% of final price) and awaited updates for a start date. Nothing happened. In early March 2018 I contacted GF Co by phone stating that I had been very patient and they had had $8k as a deposit for the last 6 months and I had nothing to show for it. After a couple more calls and emails Ariel showed up with his foreman Mark and they said that work would start in the middle of the following week. Much to my surprise the work started on time. Over the course of the next 4 weeks Mark and his crew worked hard, only missing a few days due to bad weather, I even agreed to having some extra work done by the team, some wooden entrance steps that needed replacing for an additional $2.5k. By early May 2018 the job was finished the house looked great and I was very happy with the work and appearance and was getting compliments from neighbors too. The balance of owed of over $10k was paid with 48 hours of the work being finished. Again I was happy with work done, until… A few months after the install a TV cable box started having troubles. Cut a long story short the wall socket died because cable was suddenly defective, also the crew had moved the exterior cable input box and this didn’t help the issue. Comcast fixed it, but I now have an exterior cable showing and they had to drill through the siding. Then around Halloween 2018, less than six months after having the install completed, I noticed that a piece of siding (6ft approx.) had become detached underneath a window, trying to pop it back into place did not resolve the issue. After checking all the other exterior windows I noticed 1 other window was about to do the same thing. I called the GF Company main number and left a message with the receptionist for Ariel to contact me. No response. I called again a couple of times and left more messages still no response. In March 2019 siding problem under windows still Not fixed, I called GF Company again, no answer, and no voice mail. I called a couple more times on different days still no answer or voice mail. I then sent an email to the company and to my surprise I received a response from Ariel stating this was the first that he had heard of it. About a week later (3/26/19) he showed up at my house to view the problem. Ariel stated that he would get someone over to fix the problem, but would not give me a date or time. On 4/2/19 I emailed Ariel again asking for confirmation of a repair date ? Nothing but crickets… On 4/30/19, I sent another email to Ariel requesting that the repairs be completed before the end of May 2019, again no response. Quote / contract says: Customers will receive a Lifetime Warranty on Material and Workmanship Reported GF Company to Illinois BBB on 6/5/19."

They all made my 60 year old ranch with dated wallpaper, drab paint and original trim (last painted 20+ years ago) now sparkle and shine with Sherwin Williams Extra White (SW 7006) paint. Parts of my basement had never even been painted before. Jimmy did an excellent job caulking in the bathroom. All the painters are great. I will hire them all in a heartbeat for exterior work as soon as weather permits. I appreciate their suggestions, their skill, and the quick pace. Everything went exactly as explained and as planned. "My husband and I hired Casablanca Painting in June of 2007 to paint our condo.  They were amazing. They completed the work promptly and it looked great.  
In June of 2013 my husband and I were completing our basement and I thought immediately of hiring Casablanca to paint our basement once it was finished.  I have to say that I was very disappointed the second time around.  
When Ben and his assistant Nancy came to give us a quote, Ben mentioned that he could mud/tape our drywall.  I asked Nancy to provide me with a quote for both mud/tape and painting.  Nancy provided me with a quote for both services, which I thought was low.  I asked Ben about the quote and he told me that Nancy made a mistake.  Nancy resent the quote and it was still the incorrect amount.  After finally receiving the correct quote, we agreed to the services.  
I am not sure if Casablanca bit off more than they could chew but Ben continuously told me that his workers would not be coming to perform services if it the weather was nice outside.  I swear I felt like I was constantly checking the weather and praying for rain so that the work would get done.  It took several weeks for them to finish.  There is nothing worse than when work on your home drags on.  I was waiting for the paint to be completed before we could have carpet installed, doors to be put up and trim to be installed.  Casablanca held things up for several weeks.
While the work was being performed I would have my mother stay at our home because I had to work.  When my mother would ask Ben any questions about when they would be coming back he would not answer or even look at her.
There were several times when I would attempt to contact Ben (because he would never let me know when I should expect workers at my home) and he would not answer his phone or respond to the voice mails.  I would have to contact Nancy who was not able to get a hold of Ben either.
Needless to say the mud and tape part was not performed well.  You could see the lines where the mud was not smoothed out or sanded.  I have learned my lesson and next time I will hire a contractor that specifically mud and tapes.
The painting was not horrible.  I saw many mistakes.  They were in a giant rush to finish painting.  I remember Ben telling me that they had to be done with the job "today."  It didn't even look like there were two coats of paint on some walls.  The bathroom ceiling that they painted looked awful.  It looked like they didn't bring proper lamps for lighting.  Ben told me at the beginning of the project that he would come back and perform any touch ups that needed to be done.  Again, after attempting to contact him several times he finally showed up and put plaster or putty on parts of the walls and told me that he would come back to smooth it out and paint.  I didn't even bother having them come back.  My husband sanded down the plaster himself and painted the areas that they missed.
It is such a shame that we had such a poor experience the second time around with Casablanca Painting.  After our first contact with Casablanca in 2007 we referred many of our friends to them.  After our second contact with Casablanca we would not contact them for any work in the future nor would we refer them to any friends or family.

"Words cannot describe the amazing job Curt and his team did on my condo.  I recently moved into a beautiful two-level loft with the layout of my dreams.  The only problem was that I despised the paint colors on every single wall in the place.  The project would require extremely technical painting as the walls were not in good shape.  There were holes and uneven patches hidden throughout; areas that were extremely high with lots of curves, ledges and angles.  The place also had closets with built-in shelves and drawers that needed to be removed prior to painting. Curt was fantastic throughout the entire project.  He kept in touch with me prior to the project to discuss colors and ideas.  There were some glitches along the way, one being that the owner needed to stay in the place an extra week, which would require us to postpone the project a full week.  Curt was extremely accommodating and adjusted his projects to make the timing work.  I’m a very picky and fickle person, and own up to the fact that I was probably one of Curt’s more high-maintenance clients, especially when it came to choosing my paint colors. He is an expert in color, and knows what will look good in a north vs. south facing room/rooms with little or no light and natural light. Curt was extremely patient with me, allowing me to take my time in selecting the colors.  He offered opinions that kept my personal tastes in mind.  On multiple occasions he told me that he would not feel like he was done with the job  unless we ended up with a place that I loved.  And love it I do.  Per his suggestion, we decided to do two-tone faux painting on the concrete beams throughout the place which are absolutely beautiful.  My father is in the hardware business and has a good eye for what constitutes quality work. When he saw what Curt and his team had done with the place he said it was some of the best painting he had ever seen.  I sometimes find myself just staring at the walls in awe of how beautiful they are. I have found a painter for life, and when I purchase my next home, I will make sure it’s a place where I hate every paint color so that I can go through the process of painting all over again.  He made a stressful project an extremely pleasant experience for me and I will be forever grateful."
