"I hired them to install a fence to match my neighbors existing fence. The existing fence was installed by a company called Clover. The attention to detail and perfection exhibited by Nimmer Co out shines the other company by miles. They took great care not to destroy my grass by placing plywood down as they drive their equipment around. I wish I could post comparison photos but the dumb site only allows for 5mb worth of pictures. So here is one showing how straight the fence is. Look how perfectly in line that is."

"Great! They spent 2 days repairing a poor roofing job that lead to our leaking and a several nests of wasps invading house. They also did a great job cleaning our gutters this spring.

They will be returning next spring for another issue we need addressed.

We were very happy with this company, Ben is very easy to talk with.

"I was very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and their openness of my thoughts on the project. They were extremely thorough in explaining what was going to be done and why. They needed to set up scheduling for the chimney repair with my neighbors; they took care of arranging this with my neighbors all on their own. He did a very thorough follow up after the service."

"I cannot say enough good about Joe. I hired him because he was responsive (did not fall out of contact for lengthy periods of time) and, while not the lowest cost estimate, was among the best prices estimated. Joe explained everything he would need to do and why, but in a context of "this is the challenge and here is how we will fix it" rather than continually focusing on what cannot be done as happened with several contractors. He kept in contact, showed on the days scheduled, and did an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC job on a set of challenging projects. Joe is honest, very reasonably priced, and does things the right way: he doesn't over-spend needlessly, but does not cut corners to save a dime at the expense of quality. I would absolutely recommend this contractor for any project. He does fantastic work, is professional, and responsive even though he is busy. I really had a fantastic experience with this contractor, and he will be my first call for any future project I have, without hesitation."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

A horizontal fence is typically more expensive to build than a vertical fence, often costing between 10% and 20% more. The higher cost is due to the need for a higher grade of lumber and more posts to prevent the boards from sagging, which increases both material and labor expenses. Despite the higher price, horizontal fences tend to be more durable and offer a more distinct, modern look compared to the more common vertical picket style. However, they may not be the best option for privacy, as there can be slight gaps between the horizontal rails.

A bamboo fence can last up to 20 years when properly installed and maintained. Bamboo is a durable material, but to get the most life out of it, you should clean and seal the fence every few years. Staining the bamboo can also restore the appearance if the color fades over time. Use screws to fasten the bamboo, rather than twine, to ensure the bamboo fence stays together longer.

Galvanized metal, vinyl, and composite fences are known to be the longest-lasting options, often surviving for over 30 years with proper care. Metal fences, including galvanized chain link and aluminum, can look great for decades because the galvanization process adds a protective coating that resists weather and pests. Similarly, vinyl and composite materials are resistant to pests and can withstand harsh weather for many years. In comparison, a typical wood fence lasts about 15 years, and a standard vinyl fence has a lifespan of 20 to 30 years.

There are many types of wood fencing that you can choose from. For split rail fencing, the most common wood types are cedar, pine, black locust, and chestnut. The best wood for you will depend on if you like the way a certain wood looks and the availability of the wood type in your area.

Most of the wood types you can find at your local home improvement store are good choices since they all have rot-resistant properties or are pressure-treated with pesticides. If none of the wood options speak to the look you’re going for, check out vinyl fencing.

You can buy wrought iron fencing from a trusted fence installation company near you. You could also opt to buy it privately from a homeowner who is interested in recycling their own wrought iron materials. Manufacturers stopped mass production of wrought iron as steel became more affordable to produce, so you likely won't find it in any local big box stores.
