"I hired them to install a fence to match my neighbors existing fence. The existing fence was installed by a company called Clover. The attention to detail and perfection exhibited by Nimmer Co out shines the other company by miles. They took great care not to destroy my grass by placing plywood down as they drive their equipment around. I wish I could post comparison photos but the dumb site only allows for 5mb worth of pictures. So here is one showing how straight the fence is. Look how perfectly in line that is."

"Not a negative thing we can say about Kirch Improvements. This was our first time ever hiring a contractor and making this big of a financial investment so needless to say we were a bit apprehensive going into it. But all we had to do was tell them what we were looking for and they did all the rest of the work. Jaclyn was always prompt in responding to our questions. John and his crew were very professional. Everything started on time and they even worked through the rain (even when we didn’t expect them to) to ensure the build didn’t have to be delayed. We would recommend them in a heart beat to anyone looking for deck design/construction! Our deck is gorgeous and we couldn’t be happier."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

You have several options for anchoring a temporary fence to keep it from falling down. Sandbags can be used as a standard weight, but they may blow away or fail in strong winds and inclement weather. Spikes and bolts are a cost-effective and easy-to-install alternative, but drilling can be difficult if the ground is frozen, too soft, or too hard. Another option is wind braces, which should be bolted into the ground to withstand turbulent wind; however, like spikes, they can be challenging to install in very soft or hard ground.

A chain-link fence does not lower your property value. However, chain links are not the most attractive materials—so it probably won’t raise the value either. If this is a concern, opt for wooden posts to provide visual flair and go with a color coating on your fence. Putting in a functional and attractive gate also helps up your resale value when installing a chain-link fence.

Split rail fencing is a type of post and rail fencing. Other post and rail fences include corral board and post and dowel. Post and rail fencing is the term used for any type of fence with vertical posts, horizontal rails, and nothing else (specifically excluding pickets). So, technically, a split rail fence is a post and rail fence.

The lifespan of a fence can range from 5 to 50 years, depending heavily on the material, local climate, and how well it is maintained. For example, a wooden fence might last 7 to 15 years, while a vinyl fence typically lasts 20 to 30 years. Metal, composite, and glass fences have some of the longest lifespans. Proper maintenance, such as regular cleaning, inspections, and staining or sealing for wood, is key to extending the life of any fence material. Vinyl and composite are durable options that don't require sealing.

Costs depend on material, labor, and additional features like gates or decorative elements.
