"We used Kegonsa Remodeling for a major kitchen renovation in a nearly 100-year-old house. Before the remodel everything in the kitchen looked cheap and worn down (think 1970s brown, everywhere!), and the overall arrangement of the space was really inefficient. They came in and proposed a design that was the best balance of affordability and ideal features out of half a dozen contractors we interviewed. Once we began working with them, they provided consistent updates and met with us on a regular basis, enough so that even with unavoidable pandemic slowdowns, it still felt like the project was always moving forward. Once the remodel began, they had nearly daily updates for us on what was coming next, and the project actually finished ahead of schedule! Now we have a kitchen that has at least 3x the workspace, a significantly improved flow, and easily twice as much storage as our previous one did. We get compliments all the time, and recommend Kegonsa's work any chance we get!"

Customers say: Quick response

"When I began my project I had one thing in mind but after meeting with Randy at Crocus Hill Design, I came to realize more possibilities. He considered my space and my end-goal, did some preliminary drawings, made products recommendations and presented it all in a very professional manner. We moved forward and awaiting product delivery. Randy also provided a contact for installation whose business is now under contract for our project. My project is small but I was treated as well as someone doing a total remodel."

"I loved working with Lyndsay from Nestled Interiors! I had been trying to refresh my home on my own for several years, but found the process overwhelming and was afraid of making the wrong choice. Working with Lyndsay to update my dining room with new paint, an area rug, counter stools, and art - as well as finding a new chair for my living room - made everything so much easier. I appreciated her coming to my home to see the space, discuss my vision and budget, to explain her process. The vision boards she sent were excellent, and I valued our discussions over the phone and email regarding the different options. She truly “got” what I was after and helped me make the final choices with confidence. Lyndsay’s industry contacts were also a huge help. The appointment she made at the local furniture store was seamless: having six chairs already selected and narrowed down to ten fabric choices made the decision making process so simple. I am so happy with the final results!"

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to help optimize and maximize space, functionality, and usage. It is recommended to confirm the availability of this service with your specific installer or contractor.

Professionals often use extra materials that aren’t included in traditional tree decorations, like pins and more expensive wired ribbon that can be carefully shaped. But even without these elements, you can improve your decorating by taking a few professional cues.

Always start by picking an overall theme, including colors, types of ornaments, and the overall feeling or message you want to create. Fluff your tree to its fullest potential, and include a generous amount of garlands, lights, ornaments, and bows to complete the look. Professional trees tend to be very “full” and well-balanced, with only a couple of ornament types to help the decorations flow.

Hiring a high-quality interior decorator should always start with reading through online reviews to see the kind of experience other homeowners have had. You can narrow down your search and then ask the remaining companies for references and examples of their past work. It’s during this stage that you’re likely to find a company that suits your specific tastes and one that has experience with the style you want to bring into your home. You should consider calling references to ask about the process and the homeowners’ experiences with the decorator before, during, and after service.

One downside of installing a soffit above your kitchen cabinets is that it may make your kitchen appear smaller. This visual illusion occurs because the soffit may make the cabinetry and ceiling appear shorter. However, the benefit of being able to hide unsightly wires or plumbing or HVAC fixtures may be worth the disadvantage of a smaller-seeming kitchen. Consider making your kitchen appear larger by finding ways to add more light and visual appeal to the high spots in the room.

Designing a building takes 2-6 months, depending on project size, required permits, and revisions.
