"Fantastic work and communication from Mike and his team. It so hard to find contractors with great skills, who show up when they say they will, and create beautiful results. He's a pro tiler and so knowledgeable about all aspects of remodeling. I'd recommend him without hesitation."

"We used Kegonsa Remodeling for a major kitchen renovation in a nearly 100-year-old house. Before the remodel everything in the kitchen looked cheap and worn down (think 1970s brown, everywhere!), and the overall arrangement of the space was really inefficient. They came in and proposed a design that was the best balance of affordability and ideal features out of half a dozen contractors we interviewed. Once we began working with them, they provided consistent updates and met with us on a regular basis, enough so that even with unavoidable pandemic slowdowns, it still felt like the project was always moving forward. Once the remodel began, they had nearly daily updates for us on what was coming next, and the project actually finished ahead of schedule! Now we have a kitchen that has at least 3x the workspace, a significantly improved flow, and easily twice as much storage as our previous one did. We get compliments all the time, and recommend Kegonsa's work any chance we get!"

"I loved working with Lyndsay from Nestled Interiors! I had been trying to refresh my home on my own for several years, but found the process overwhelming and was afraid of making the wrong choice. Working with Lyndsay to update my dining room with new paint, an area rug, counter stools, and art - as well as finding a new chair for my living room - made everything so much easier. I appreciated her coming to my home to see the space, discuss my vision and budget, to explain her process. The vision boards she sent were excellent, and I valued our discussions over the phone and email regarding the different options. She truly “got” what I was after and helped me make the final choices with confidence. Lyndsay’s industry contacts were also a huge help. The appointment she made at the local furniture store was seamless: having six chairs already selected and narrowed down to ten fabric choices made the decision making process so simple. I am so happy with the final results!"

I'm so excited to welcome you to my creative space. \n\nI was born and raised in the Madison area, and now reside in Sun Prairie with my boyfriend and little goldendoodle doggie, Ricky Bobby. \n\nI have worked in the design and furniture industry since 2015 and am so passionate about what I do. I have had the pleasure of working with a wide array of clients over the years, designing both residential and commercial spaces. A couple of highlights were having the opportunity to design for a parade home, along with having the incredible experience of designing a penthouse for NBA superstar, Bobby Portis.

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Whether hiring an interior designer is worth the cost depends on your budget, the scope of the project, and your own design and project management skills. For larger projects or those beyond your DIY skills, an interior designer is often a worthwhile investment. The benefits include realizing the best layout, functionality, and decor for your lifestyle and taste; managing the project to keep it on track and within budget; serving as a point of contact for contractors; accessing discounts from suppliers; and assisting with home staging for a sale.

Any homeowner can carry out interior decoration themselves, but many struggle to devise a cohesive and appealing design that balances comfort and aesthetics. Interior designers are not only trained in design principles, but they also design home interiors for a living, so they’re much more likely to produce a final product that meets your needs. Hiring a professional can sometimes lead to savings on the materials, as some experts know how to source more affordable decor and furniture via their professional connections.

Professionals ensure proper assembly, prevent damage, and save time by handling complex instructions.

The cost to have your house decorated for Christmas depends on the extent of your holiday vision. Interior decorators charge between $50 and $150 per hour on average, so if your decorations are minimal, you could pay as little as $200 for a couple of hours of decorating. Interior decorators might also bill $5 to $12 per square foot, or a flat rate of $500 to $1,300 per room. You can also pay to have your Christmas tree professionally decorated for an average of $200 to $600. Contact a local interior decorator for a specific quote.

While the terms 'interior designer' and 'interior decorator' are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct professions with some overlapping work. The primary difference lies in the scope of their projects.

An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetics of a space, making less permanent decisions about decor. Their work involves selecting colors, fabrics, furniture, wall art, paint, and other finishes to 'dress' a room and enhance its style.

An interior designer has a broader scope that includes a decorator's aesthetic focus but also extends to the structural and functional aspects of a space. Designers are qualified to plan layouts, make structural changes, and manage overall functionality. They handle permanent decisions regarding fixtures like cabinets and bathtubs, establish floor plans, and may hire contractors.

Due to the technical skills required, interior designers typically have formal education, certification, and may hold a license, which can result in higher fees. As a general rule, it is best to hire an interior designer for major remodeling projects and an interior decorator for projects focused on establishing or refreshing a home's interior style.
